The Jolly Sportsman, hotel in Hassocks

Located in Lewes, 8.9 miles from Glyndebourne Opera House, The Jolly Sportsman has accommodations with a garden, free private parking, a terrace and a restaurant.

This is an absolutely charming pub/restaurant in the middle of the Sussex countryside with a few rooms. All around are lovely walks and views, and it is only a shortish drive (albeit down very narrow country lanes) from Lewes, Hove, and Brighton. Our room was very comfortable with a splendid bathroom, and lovely view. We ate dinner on Saturday night and it was inventive and delicious cuisine using a lot of local ingredients. Highly recommended, not least because the owners and staff are particularly friendly.

Miller & Carter Brighton by Innkeeper's Collection, hotel in Hassocks

Just 4.5 miles from the seafront, this large Brighton lodge offers a Miller & Carter Steakhouse serving tasty grills. Free parking is possible on site.

Requested and was given a quiet room at the back of the hotel. Room was spacious and more comfortable than expected given other reviews (we'd taken our own pillows and didn't need them). Great water pressure in the shower. All the staff were friendly and helpful, especially Kim in the restaurant. Evening meal was delicious and good value. Far more breakfast options than expected given other reviews - those people wanting full breakfast options with cereal, fruit etc should book a hotel and not a restaurant with a few rooms - also delicious and good value.

The Wheatsheaf Inn, hotel in Hassocks

The Wheatsheaf Inn has a shared lounge, restaurant, a bar and tennis court in Cuckfield. Located around 15 miles from Preston Park, the inn with free WiFi is also 16 miles away from Victoria Gardens.

I stayed at the Wheatsheaf for an event close by. They did a great job of managing the separate resturant/pub and Inn. The breakfast was amazing, and being able to eat great food onsite for dinner was a plus!

Cute and well fitted out with all necessities for my stay. Good size for 1 or 2 travellers. Once I had the instructions how to get there and for entry, everything was easy. Easy to park. Nice and private and felt safe and secure. Compact yet still with space to move about in. Not too far to the nearest big village (Hassocks) and shops. There is a foot path all the way, so is possible to walk if you wanted (tho bring a torch if it's dark because there's no street lighting near the end).

The cabin was lovely. Situated behind the pub, away from the main road overlooking beautiful scenery. It was small perfect for a couple. Plenty of storage for clothes and a little kitchen if you chose to cook. It was spotlessly clean and in a very quiet location, close to Hassocks train station and on main transport links (there is a bus stop outside the pub). We really enjoyed our visit.

It was a welcome break from hotel rooms, and this hut had all the facilities that you need for a weekend. There is also a nice pub next door with good pub grub and a pleasant atmosphere. It is also a nice area to explore the South Downs, National Trust properties, and towns like Lewis—or the City of Brighton. The Hut was immaculate in all respects, and very helpful owner.
