Hastings is a rundown town, it’s glory days are long gone.
Hastings is a rundown town, it’s glory days are long gone. The local council seem to have run out of money and there’s no maintenance being done. The pavements around Warrior Square are covered in weeds. The flowerbed are likewise weed covered. It just down at heal and not a nice environment. Many houses appear to being held up with scaffolding. The roads are dreadful, full of potholes. There’s roadworks along the front which are light controlled and the traffic can be backed up for hundreds of yards. I never saw a worker actually attending the roadworks. It’s a sad place to visit.

Hastings was an elegant seaside resort 100 years ago.
Hastings was an elegant seaside resort 100 years ago. Since then it has fallen on hard times but hopefully it is on the way up now. The elegant Georgian and early Victorian architecture still looks good however even if a little faded.

Hastings is a wonderful town with so much historic relevance through the centuries it makes your head swirl. If you might be interested in such contexts you should take some time...
If you're interested in the nature of the coast and the cliffs/hills you will also find everything here.
Needless to say the beers and ciders are brilliant.
And don't forget to visit Bexhill nearby - such a relaxed (and relaxing) little town.

Positively surprised! Loads to do and a beautiful beach.
Positively surprised! Loads to do and a beautiful beach. There is a little funfair at the Pelham beach, lovely playground, trampoline park and loads more to do with your family. You can buy fresh seafood from local fishmongers at a variety that I haven’t seen before… We ate at Yates pub that’s a little bit further down from the beach but they serve main dishes at £5 Monday to Thursday! It was a bargain! We are there every day… Amazing staff as well… I would highly recommend.

We like Hastings very much, as it was the place where we spent our first holidays as a new family time ago.
This time we were surprised to find many, many, way too many migrants and people not looking really British. We had to defend ourselves on the beach. We observed parents being very careful to protect their children, and leaving very soon, obviously being fearful for their children. Like never before. This was never happening in our previous stays. Police everywhere, even on the beach, like never before. Maybe related to the last British political events. August 2024
Well it wasn't the fault of the hotel that they had no water so we couldn't shower but as we couldn't get a room anywhere else in Hastings we decided to stay put. Because we stayed under adverse conditions I thought management may have given us a price reduction or a free breakfast but they didn't
The Eagle is a well organized and functional hotel which comes with spacious rooms, a bar, plenty of parking and a decent breakfast. It's location is a short walk from the sea and a convenient base for exploring Hastings and surrounding parts of the Sussex coastline.
The hotel had everything you needed, i.e., TV, kettle & supplies, storage space (open shelves more than drawers) and en-suite bathroom. It is located on the sea front nearer the pier than old town but it's not far from the centre of Hastings.
This is an old-style grand hotel in maybe the best seafront location in the Hastings and St Leonards area. There are huge public rooms and bedroom spaces, wonderful views of the sea and good food.
This a friendly hotel. Breakfast is excellent. There is a bar with comfortable seating. It is on a good bus route. There are many buses into St Leonards or Hastings.
