The location is good. There are good facilities. The staff are accommodating but the hotel is tired. The rooms need modernising, furniture is a bit shabby and our mattress really needed replacing it had a large dip in the middle that we just kept rolling into. I certainly don't think my luxury room was luxury. And £100 a night was a lot for just an okay room. Our room was changed for a better view. The initial view was a car park. We managed to get a view of some greenery eventually. This hotel is more of a 'functions' hotel. Weddings the entire time we stayed and conferences.
Xmas eve was bustling but people were almost alien. Non responsive shop staff. Seemed there was no xmas spirit in the town also 'boy racers' using the main road & being dangerous & noisy. Shame to see so many sleeping rough in shop doorways.
the breakfast is really good and Staff are warm and friendly and very helpful. The room we stayed is old and tired. Bed was very uncomfortable the place could do with an upgrade. The price is close to a premier inn but no where near that quality
Very interesting little streets and buildings and some quaint areas. Good areas to walk a dog including a park in the daytime. Some dilapidated buildings though where the recession has hit hard.
Car park charges especially on the beach s should be transferable as you move from beach to beach. I would stay clear of West Wittering beach as £9 parking charge is extortionate, after I did a U turn every car behind me did the same.
Havant only appears to have three pubs walkable from the Bear. I think they all do food. Not a lot to do in Havant but it is a good base from which to explore Portsmouth etc. We always stay at the Bear which has great car parking. For family researchers there is a fabulous local museum with so many resources about local villages. There are three large supermarkets and an indoor shopping centre. Every fast food chain you can think of. We felt very safe walking around at night.
The room was clean and well appointed. It was in an annex attached to the main pub premises so it was very quiet at night as it was set back off the main road behind the pub. The location in the town centre was ideal for our purposes as it was near shops and restaurants and the railway station is only five minutes walk away. The serving staff at breakfast were very polite and helpful. There is a really nice walk to Hayling Island nearby.
Havant
A really quiet location close to our event. Keith was absolutely lovely and welcoming. Our room was spacious and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was overseen by Helen and Molly the cat, who was a welcome addition as we were missing our pets. I'd recommend this for anyone wanting a clean and comfortable place to stay without all the busyness of a hotel. We'd definitely return.
Not too much. Location couldn’t be worse… it’s SO far away from town, and it’s really hard to get a taxi to come get you - and the hotel staff on reception hardly made any effort to help with this
