Holford is a really pretty village and an ideal base to explore the Quantocks. The village has a friendly pub, The Plough Arms which offers good value food and there is a hotel, Combe House where we had afternoon tea in the garden.
The property was very good and the surroundings and furnishings were top quality. It would be very difficult to get to the hotel without transport as it is about a mile off the main road, down a single track road and very remote. If you like peace and quiet and solitude it would be ideal.
A beautiful area for wild life and walking up the combe onto the hills. Good places in walking - and hiking distance for eating out and a beer or two. The Combe House Hotel for lazy lunch on Sunday or a cream tea in the garden . The Plough for well priced and hearty pub food. Coleridge Cottage in Nether Stowey worth a visit.
Friendly, helpful staff. Nice walks in all directions from the hotel. It is possible to walk over the Quantock Hills to a few pubs for lunch from the hotel. Coleridge. Cottage in Nether Stowey and Dunster Castle both worth a visit ( both National Trust).
