Horncastle is a town that is full of surprises ... ... especially so if you are looking for something a bit unusual. There seems to be more "Bric-a-brac" shops in the town that you can shake a stick at. Looking for a plate that you broke from dinner service, or a sugar bowl from a tea-set that your Auntie bought you as a wedding present? I can almost guarantee that somewhere in Horncastle you will find what you are looking for. Go give it a try, I doubt that you will be disappointed.
A very nice town, with a lot of eating places to choose from, especially take seats, needed a lot at the present time.Friendly people in shops and very good service and food at the Bull Hotel Pub, in the centre of town.
Such an interesting building. Welcoming staff we know by sight now after many stays. Rooms are charming, very comfortable.Lovely linen, room decorations. The food is excellent.A wide choice is presented. Plenty of little corners to relax in after chasing all the antiques For which Horncastle is well known.
Interesting, fairly lively little market town, with a good selection of independent shops, bakers, butchers, pubs, restaurants etc. A few of the better restaurants were unfortunately closed on Mondays. Plenty of gastropubs and villages with good walking routes within a short drive. Easy to drive around. We ate at the Agra Tandoori, which was pretty good - albeit curries were a bit on the mild side. Quietly efficient service and excellent value. Had a drink at the Thatch pub nearby. Nice decor and good looking pub. The ale was reasonable and fairly friendly feel, but a bit odd that no women in there other than bar staff. All men standing by the bar. Stayed at Admiral Rodney hotel - recommend for personal stay.
We loved the general feel of the town. Lovely restaurants and people. Christmas Narket was a bonus with music and entertainment as well as the usual Fayre. Special mention to Admiral Rodney for a fantastic meal and The Magpie Shop for a lot of my Christmas shopping.
Horncastle has a town centre with good venues for food, drink and/or live music. We ate really tasty tapas food at the Bull Hotel, before going to see a live band at Nicks Tavern, which is a friendly venue with its own micro-brewery.
The whole experience exceeded my expectations
