we had a great stay here for our anniversary. Right in the middle of inverness within walking distance to the train and bus stations. the staff were kinda and smart! i booked the romance package to be set up the day after we arrived and they were kind enough to put it in a separate bill so my husband could be surprised.

FAQs about hotels in Inverness

Gateway to the Highlands and Loch Ness

A jewel with historic buildings and charming streets, Inverness is surrounded by a typical Scottish Highland landscape. It is located 10 km from Loch Ness, along the mouth of the Ness River and the Moray Firth coast. It is regarded as the northernmost city in the United Kingdom, and capital of the Highlands.

Take a walk around the Old Town, visit St Andrew’s Cathedral, and make a stopover in the charming Victorian Market. The Old High St Stephen's Church is the oldest building in town, and has been a religious site since pre-Christian times.

The Inverness Castle overlooks the river and is nowadays the seat of the Sheriff Court. A hotel in Inverness city centre is ideal to enjoy the different cultural and recreational activities in town.

Watch the Atlantic salmon jumping out the river near the Ness Islands, and try to catch a glimpse of the famous monster of Loch Ness. The Cairngorms National Park is 40 km away, and Chanonry Point is the best spot to watch dolphins, just 24 km away.

Inverness hotels include a large offer of small, cosy guest houses, B&B’s, and rural cottages, allowing a closer contact with the nature. Don’t miss the Inverness accommodation deals on Booking.com!

Inverness is a scenic place with the river going through the town centre, and the customary Scottish castle. Plenty of shops and cafes. Some high quality Scottish gift shops selling Harris Tweed goods etc. An enjoyable stay all in all. I would just say, that as is common place these days, the city restaurants are pretty pricey for an evening meal. However, on the outskirts of the town just a short drive away, is a pub/restaurant called the Fluke. It is a bit of a Fluke, as it is a roomy and popular place with the locals, and furthermore, there is a wide menu of food to choose from and I would say its between £7-£10 cheaper than the food in town, depending on what you have. We enjoyed a beef lasagne one night and a really good fish and chips the next. Definitely worth the drive for us. Tea and coffee cheaper than average too.

It is a calm, beautiful highland city, ideal for a romantic or relaxing getaway. It is the perfect spot to stay and explore further north in Scotland. The central market and mall offer everything a small town like Inverness needs. A walk along the river, a visit to the Castle and an evening in the Victorian market is highly recommended.

The city itself is beautiful sitting right on the Loch Ness with charming, sweeping views of the Loch and castle which looms over the city in all its majesty. A small and quaint city and very enjoyable to walk around, beautiful buildings and locals which made our stay very welcoming. Our favourite locations in and around Inverness had to be Culloden battlefield for its rich and moving history and of-course the castle of Inverness with its panoramic views of the city. Our only gripe is the unfortunate state of cleanliness in the streets after dark, which were littered with trash.

Anywhere in Scotland north of the central belt is so much more polite, less busy and just overall, nicer. Inverness certainly falls into this description. The city centre has a abundance of places to eat and a not too bad selection of shops. Inverness' location is fantastic if you like scenery, it's a cracking base to explore the north of Scotland, the amount of places you can reach within a couple of hours is very definitely a plus point.

This was probably our favourite place we've stayed in Scotland. It is an easy walk from the train station (Inverness is very walkable) and the apartment had everything we needed. There were lots of helpful notes around the apartment for the various things, a coffee machine (not a coffee drinker but others would find this amazing) and a washing machine. We did a reasonable amount of cooking and the apartment had all the utensils we needed. So cosy and the bed was huge.

It was the best hostel I have been in my long travel through Scotland. Good relation quality/price, and in the center of Inverness, near the Castle. I was in a room for four, clean, comfortable, with space. Shared bathroom are very good, modern and clean. I did not used the other facilities. They have space where to leave lugage between checkout and gone... and the rest room is so nice! Definitely, a place to choose in Inverness.

Full Scottish breakfast was the best in Scotland and there were many other breakfast options. The host cooked a hot breakfast for us early in the morning before our reserved tour to the Isle of Skye. The host couple were very friendly and kind. They also allowed luggage storage after check-out. The room was clean and cosy. We also liked the host's list of recommendations in Inverness.

John was an amazing host. He was friendly and informative. The breakfast cooked by himself was amazing. It was customised and included eggs by his own chicken! The two ladies serving us were kind and smiley. Location is very convenient and close to the city center. PS we made a 10-day road trip to Scotland, staying in 5 different accommodations. This was the best hotel we visited!

Location excellent, by the riverside, 10 minutes from the city centre. Very good breakfast (I paid £12.50 supplement) including haggis- always a good sign in Scotland. Hotel is a series of terraced properties- perhaps former guest houses - that have been joined together sympathetically.
