Loch Ness Country House Hotel, North Kessock Hotel, and AC Hotel by Marriott Inverness got great room view-related reviews from travelers in Inverness.
A jewel with historic buildings and charming streets, Inverness is surrounded by a typical Scottish Highland landscape. It is located 10 km from Loch Ness, along the mouth of the Ness River and the Moray Firth coast. It is regarded as the northernmost city in the United Kingdom, and capital of the Highlands.
Take a walk around the Old Town, visit St Andrew’s Cathedral, and make a stopover in the charming Victorian Market. The Old High St Stephen's Church is the oldest building in town, and has been a religious site since pre-Christian times.
The Inverness Castle overlooks the river and is nowadays the seat of the Sheriff Court. A hotel in Inverness city centre is ideal to enjoy the different cultural and recreational activities in town.
Watch the Atlantic salmon jumping out the river near the Ness Islands, and try to catch a glimpse of the famous monster of Loch Ness. The Cairngorms National Park is 40 km away, and Chanonry Point is the best spot to watch dolphins, just 24 km away.
Inverness hotels include a large offer of small, cosy guest houses, B&B’s, and rural cottages, allowing a closer contact with the nature. Don’t miss the Inverness accommodation deals on Booking.com!
Inverness connects to other beautiful places in the Highlands. Though Inverness is the center, a lot of hidden gems are located while on the way to Inverness if you make a road trip. St. Andrew's cathedral and the museum is very close to the Inverness station. The castle is well known however it's getting renovated.
staff and location were amazing. we walked to restaurants nearby. It was hard to get reservations if you did not book ahead. Check in /out was easy. Staff were helpfull. we were able to get street parking easily and only had to pay for a few hours.
A beautiful city to just stroll around in. The museum is small but informative, beautiful architecture and lots of hidden gems. You don't need to long to see everything, but make sure so visit dolphin spirit, as well as book a day tour through the highlands! (I recommend timber bush tours "Fort George, Cullodden and Cairngorms" Tour!)
Stay a whole day or two in Inverness and shop, eat etc there, it is worth it. After that you've seen pretty much everything in the city itself but it is a great spot to stay and make daytrips to the north or isle of skye etc. Inverness is a small town so easily accessed by foot but taxis are quite cheap too. For food I can highly recommend Number 27 bar and kitchen.
Fort George is not on many of the tour itineraries, but it is an excellent example of the Vauban style of fortifications from the 1600s and 1700s and is probably the best preserved example anywhere in the world (it is still a working military establishment.) We went there with Bucketlist Tours and would have no hesitation in recommending them. Uber does not work in Inverness. The local taxis range from excellent to larcenous. One taxi had his boot full of various odds and ends, so he put our suitcases in his front seat. At the end of the journey, he then proceeded to charge us extra for the luggage on the basis that it would not fit in his boot!
Inverness is beautiful. It is a city, but small enough to feel like a town. It has plenty on offer to see and do in the city and in the surrounding area. Public transport is very good. The city also has a great nightlife. Excellent for a short break or longer stay, and it is easy to get from Inverness to other cities in Scotland, although some routes include a very long drive or train ride! The remoteness of the Highlands means it is a less populated area than the central area of Scotland, so if you like peace and quiet, this is the place for you.
The view across the River Ness & hills beyond was excellent from my room on 5th floor. Nice breakfast with plenty of choice. Hotel was handy for public transport, about 3 mins walk from railway station. [Inverness also known as the 'Highland Capital' has rail services heading north, south, east & west - I recommend the 'Spirit of Scotland' Rail-Rover Ticket which gives 4 or 8 days of virtually unlimited travel anywhere in the country at a reasonable price.]
This was probably our favourite place we've stayed in Scotland. It is an easy walk from the train station (Inverness is very walkable) and the apartment had everything we needed. There were lots of helpful notes around the apartment for the various things, a coffee machine (not a coffee drinker but others would find this amazing) and a washing machine. We did a reasonable amount of cooking and the apartment had all the utensils we needed. So cosy and the bed was huge.
Inverness
this place was perfect. it was a 5 minute drive (if that) into Inverness. everything about the place was fantastic. it was clean, spacious, cute, and nice. it was the best place we stayed in our two week trip to Scotland. I would recommend everyone to stay here. unfortunately we weren’t able to use the hot tub but that would have been an extra bonus. they provided croissants, bread, jam, milk, and butter for breakfast. the hosts were kind and friendly.
Inverness
On our amazing trip around Scotland for two and a half weeks, we had an overnight stay at Carisbrooke Guest House in Inverness on our trip from Shetland to the Isle of Skye. Nice place and centrally located close to the city center. Good facilities. Our room was in the building at the back. Calm and quiet. The hosts were helpful and very attentive to our well-being. Delicious and varied breakfast. Lotte&Bjarne Arleth Nielsen Copenhagen, Denmark
Inverness
The room was clean and cozy, especially the bathroom was pretty. Breakfast was really good as well. The location was perfect if you visit Scotland by car. It''s like a 10 min walk into the center of Inverness, which was perfect. Had really good drinks in a bar called Scotch & Rye. Def. would book again :) The B&B host recommended to go to Chanonry Point to see Dolphins and we really saw some there, it was amazing!
Wonderfully located hotel to the shops and restaurants of Inverness. Not in a busy, loud area but just a short walk from the hustle and bustle. We stayed here the night before an early morning flight and the receptionist took care of our bill at check-in and gave great instructions for an easy departure. I loved that they provided parking. The bedroom and bathroom were very spacious and the bed was very comfortable.
Been someone who stays in hotels regularly for work reasons , this hotel nailed all expectations , for the price the hotel is cozy, comfortable, and been based right in the City Centre is very idea if you want a cheap stay and want to get about exploring the Highlands as well as Inverness. Very traditional atmosphere which is great. Has lots of Character this hotel will be staying again in the future.
Our family of five stayed at Blackfriars for one evening on our 10 day road trip through Scotland. We knew we liked the photos we saw online, but what we saw in person was even better. Property is modern & clean..in a prime location for sightseeing and restaurants..and just an all around great place to stay in Inverness. We would definitely recommend Blackfriars :)
Inverness
Despite being accommodation only, the host provided a lot of breakfast choices, milk, bread, butter, jams and more. It was very welcome as we didn't arrive until 21h00 the previous day. We towed 3 motorbikes on a trailer up from Bristol and spent a fantastic 5 days touring the north of Scotland, the house had perfect secure parking for the bikes, car and trailer.
Excellent location for our trip. A short drive to Loch Ness so perfect! Food was fantastic especially the haggis (first timer) Our host was friendly and chatty which was very welcome. Louise and I are very pleased to see this hotel up and running again. We would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting this beautiful area of Scotland.
The apartment was beautiful and a stunning surprise. The entire place felt like a mansion (very spacious) and my entire family absolutely loved reading the history of the building too. This is the nicest rental property for your money in all of Scotland. When I go back to Scotland some day I intend to stay here again.
Inverness
Everything! After 15 different hotels in Scotland, some of which we far more expensive than this property, this one was sky high above the rest. We will 100% be staying here again. Thank you for an incredible stay, your true care for making sure we had a great stay & your efforts at breakfast! AMAZING!!
Staff were so friendly when we arrived and welcoming to our dog. We only stayed one night to break our journey home from the north of Scotland and the hotel was perfect for this. Also the bathroom was huge with a great shower over a bath which I needed to wash my dogs legs when he had been for a walk😊
One of the only Hotel in our Scotland trip where we were greeted by a valet/ butler who helped us with our luggage. Also the only Hotel to welcome us with a glass of bubbly and took time to orient us with maps and recommendations the old fashioned way.. Great location....right by the River Ness.
Inverness
The shower water pressure was the best we had during our 8-day road-trip through Scotland. The location is also very central, so you can look forward to ditching your car in the private garage and walking for the rest of your stay.
Extremely good location in the heart of Inverness. Parking was about a 5 minute walk but very easy to locate and only £7 for 24 hours. The room and hotel were very clean.
Inverness
Best breakfast in Scotland. Lovely neighborhood in a convenient location… quiet yet easy walk to town center. polite and helpful hosts.
Inverness
Everything, it was our favorite stay in Scotland.
