Inverness is centrally located. It's considered the gateway to the highlands, but is equally convenient for destinations south. It's a good sized city with a number of excellent restaurants and interesting pubs. Local folk were friendly
Inverness is a delightful and friendly city. The river walks alone would recommend it as an excellent holiday destination. Easy access to some of the most glorious scenery in the UK and a chance to try some of Scotlands delicious Highland malt whiskies
Walking along the river is great, some of the restaurants I tried were very accesible for someone with food sensitivities, and the shops were diverse and easy to get to. I found it a good base town, to use as something to come back to after travelling or touring the surrounding areas. On the whole not quite amazing, but cute and comfortable nonetheless.
Inverness is a great, mid-sized city not far from Loch Ness and the Culloden Battlefield and filled with fun shopping, great pubs with live music and very, very walkable. Don't miss Victorian Gardens, an excellent area for souvenirs (both the usual and the very unusual), and while the castle, as I write this, is undergoing work, the statue of Fiona MacDonald out front is still very visible. We did an overnight stop, but I would have liked an extra day.
We were 8 golfers. The place had everything we needed. Well stocked. If you are a golf party I would highly recommend. The man cave is over the top. Centrally located and spacious. Plenty of parking. Can’t say enough about how we enjoyed Laird House. If you are going to play the courses in the Highlands (Dornoch, Nairn, Castle Stuart,Brora) this is the place to stay. There is a store right behind the house for coffee , beer, etc.. and it’s a short walk into central Inverness. We ate one night at Rocpol. One of the golfers who eats regularly in NYC Manhattan said the quality of the food at Rocpol was of equal quality. If you are staying in Inverness this is the place.
Inverness offers a lot of interesting things to do and see. It's better if you have a car. There are very very few cabs, no uber and its almost impossible to get to the airport before 6:30 AM so plan for that
Inverness
It is a lovely guesthouse close to the center of Inverness by foot but in a residencial area, really calm and safe. The host was super nice, friendly and helpful, thank you for make us fell like in our home. The bedroom is not modern but is well preserved and comfy. There was hot drinks, chocolates and cookies available! I loved the breakfast, there was a lot of variety including the typical Scotland breakfast. I totally recommend it!
Unfortunately our stay was cut very short due to a family bereavement on the day we arrived and we had to leave. I would like to mention the excellent staff, particularly Georgia, the customer care manager, who instantly cancelled our booking and gave a full refund despite the cancellation policy agreed at the time of booking. I will definitely use the Mercure Hotel the next time I am in Inverness.
Three of us stayed here for two nights (14th and 16th August 2020) during a lads golf trip to Scotland. I felt that the hotel provided great value for money in the centre of Inverness. Rooms were excellent for the price paid. Bar area was nice (despite the covid restrictions) and we felt that the staff were very friendly and helpful. Good selection of drinks at the bar.
Our family of five stayed at Blackfriars for one evening on our 10 day road trip through Scotland. We knew we liked the photos we saw online, but what we saw in person was even better. Property is modern & clean..in a prime location for sightseeing and restaurants..and just an all around great place to stay in Inverness. We would definitely recommend Blackfriars :)
Inverness
Nice, new hostel in the centre of Inverness. Staff were really helpful & welcoming, whilst the hostel has good facilities, including a drying room for wet gear. Kind enough to let me hire a towel & get a shower the day after I'd checked out after a typical August day in Scotland left me cold & wet, which was much appreciated!
Inverness
Me and 4 of my Mates stayed here for 3 night while we ride up and around Scotland, the place was really good, the staff were on the phone and came to sort out a tiny problem we have straight away (a picky problem), if you are going to Inverness I highly recommend this place, the area is quite so it’s even good for a family with kids
Loved everything about the hotel. It’s close to Inverness, on the Loch, staff was extremely friendly & helpful. Dinner was wonderful with great advice on Scotch. We had to leave before breakfast to catch a flight so they left a continental breakfast in our room the night before. A shout out to Martin, & Deborah.
Inverness
Everything, very pleasant hosts and staff. Extremely comfortable room, great breakfast and info on restaurants, wish we had been able to stay for a few nights. This was our first vist to the north of Scotland doing a driving tour of the NC 500 but wll hopefully return to see more of Inverness and the surrounding area.
Beautiful building with great rooms. Staff was very helpful and friendly. We had some internet issues the first few nights and the manager was kind enough to upgrade us to a room with better signal and space. The food is great; we had breakfast every day at the hotel. Would recommend to anyone staying in Inverness.
Having stayed in 10 different hotels during our tour of Scotland, this was without doubt the best, location was good, our room was large, clean and very comfortable. We ate in the restaurant and the food was amazing, will definitely be returning for a longer stay!
Great location near the city centre, comfortable and large room with a great view on Inverness Castle. The room was clean and the staff very helpfull. The hotel had a nice swimming pool, which was a big plus!
very good hotel slightly out of Inverness, the owner and staff where very helpful food was great and breakfast also. would definitely recommend staying here and also good if your starting the North Coast 500
Comfortable beds Good bathroom Had 2 meals in bar and 2 breakfasts, all of which were excellent. Very friendly staff. Best hotel we've stayed in in Scotland, would definitely recommend.
