As soon as we arrived we were relaxed and made to feel comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble because the staff were friendly and jolly - very helpful. The food was amazing and the wine was delicious. Huge comfy bed. Despite inclement weather, we were always warm thanks to glorious wood burning stoves and effective heating. Not one moment of hassle or stress. Local scenery indescribably wonderful and easily accessed. Terrific walks. Magic experience.
Expectations were high from recommendations but evening meal disappointing. Cottage minimilist. Odd deck outside and wild garden. Ashtray on table with cigarette ends in not pleasant. However breakfast was fantastic, great coffee.
Have stayed several times and it doesn't disappoint. Menu is a little more limited but Ok for a two night stay. Good parking, good wifi and friendly staff. Cottage needs lived in a little to make sure it has the right equipment but great for the family.
Anyone travelling up the A84 should stop off here. It is a lovely place to spend the night and break that journey. The food and drink are excellent, the rooms comfy (though in need of a little tweaking) The woodturners are inviting and the cakes to die for. The Mhor franchise is big in this area....you can visit their fish and chip shop and bakery in Callander, or go posh at their Monachle Mhor hotel. Mhor 84 sits nicely in the travelling budget (£80/room) and is well worth a visit.
Kingshouse is mostly a place you will stop on the way to elsewhere. Close by are Lochearnhead, Killin & Balquhidder. There are a few Munros nearby if you are into Munro bagging, this would be an excellent base.
