Nestled in the historic town of Kingussie, between Càrn Dearg and Glenmore Forest Park, award-winning The Cross at Kingussie offers free parking, free WiFi throughout, a restaurant, and easy access to... Food was the best meal I have had in ages...both the dinner and the breakfast was phenomenal...you must order the porridge!
This 150-year-old Victorian hotel sits at the heart of the Cairngorm National Park, amid the magnificent scenery of the Scottish Highlands With free WiFi, a bar and restaurant, the hotel is 15 minutes... This Hotel is excellent. The Management and staff just couldn't do enough for us. their commitment to satisfying their guests is boundless. For an hotel that has just recently opened it has certainly hit the road running. We had six adults and 3 children in our party and every one of us, including the kids were genuinely sad to leave. Special mention to Peter, Robert and Ryan for making us feel really at home. As for Liz? What a fantastic asset to the establishment (Brilliant with all the family, especially grandad and the kids, who loved her).
Located in the Scottish Highlands, in the center of Kingussie, The Star Hotel offers free WiFi in public areas, and free parking on site. My dog was made very welcome. Bar meals were very good value most at £7.95. Plenty on the plate as well. Room was very comfortable and warm. Power shower was excellent.
Situated in the heart of the Scottish Highlands, one of the last truly unspoiled parts of the world, the hotel looks out across the picturesque Spey Valley to the 18th century Ruthven Barracks. The hotel is beautiful, location is great and staff are very helpful. We were very pleased with this place and the bed was MASSIVE and very very comfy. Will be back!
Featuring free WiFi, Dunmhor Guest House is located in Kingussie, 3 mi from Highland Folk Museum. Free private parking is available on site. Every room is equipped with a flat-screen TV and DVD... Steven and Leslie were WONDERFUL - and super nice. We LOVED the beds here - most comfortable beds of our 12 day journey! Breakfast was excellent and we loved the suggestions of things to see in the area. We would have missed some fantastic scenery without Steven's help! Lovely place to stay ! We enjoyed it!
Greystones B&B is set in the heart of Cairngorm National Park, in Kingussie. It offers free WiFi throughout, free private parking on site and 24-hour front desk. I stayed 2 nights here. The owners (Mark and Anne, who have run the B&B for 28 years) were extremely hospitable and welcoming from the moment I arrived (late in the evening and carrying a lot of kit) and were very amenable. The rooms were comfortable and quiet, the breakfast was huge (just the basic version...the cooked version is even bigger). You can help yourself to hot drinks in the living/dining room whenever you like. The showers were clean, water was hot, beds were comfortable, the house felt like home-from-home and the location is only about 10-15 minutes from the railway station. A wonderful place to stay and I definitely recommend it. Thank you Mark and Anne for your hospitality and welcoming me. See you again.
Featuring water sports facilities, the guesthouse is close to several noted attractions, around a 9-minute walk from Highland Folk Museum and around 1.2 miles from Ruthven Barracks. Janet and Graham were wonderful hosts! Room was comfy. Whiskey on arrival just what the doctor ordered. Breakfast was awesome too.
Located in Kingussie, Tigh Na Bruaich provides garden views and free WiFi, an 11-minute walk from Highland Folk Museum and 1.5 miles from Ruthven Barracks. Great hosts, lovely room and good location with access to lots of different activities in the area. Would definitely recommend.

Kingussie isn't a town you set out to visit. You stay there because you are hiking or touring in the area. We had just been at Balmoral, stayed at a lovely inn, had a fabulous meal at the inn, and spent a day hiking and looking around. Other than going to a cute coffee and sandwich place, dining in town itself is not much of an option, i.e., avoid it.
Kingussie is a small but pretty town/village with a few shops and restaurants of mostly decent but not amazing quality. It has decent enough amenities given that it's in an isolated rural location, and ultimately you don't come to the Cairngorms to go to fancy restaurants or bars. The location is great, close to the Kingussie Barracks (obviously) and Highland folk museum, and also within half an hour's drive of most of the main attractions in the Cairngorms, such as the mountain/lake trails, reindeer, RSPB centre and Dalwhinnie Distillery. We stayed for about 4 days which is long enough to experience the area and tick off most of the things that interested us. We probably could have occupied ourselves for a full week, but any longer and anyone who's not a dedicated hiker or golfer (each to their own) might run out of stuff to do. In terms of nightlife, well there's a pub (possibly two?) It's not exactly Ibiza and not is it trying to be. Overall definitely a great stop on a Highland tour and a good base camp for a hiking or climbing holiday. Probably good for golf too but as I have no interest I wouldn't know.
The main street isn't very inviting, but we found some nice spots. At one end of the main street is Glebe Ponds which was an attractive place to walk around - ducks & lily pads. Also walked around The Dell, near the river which was nice too. Other walks around the town were signposted. Ate at the Duke hotel which was fine, and had pizzas from Haddock Bay chip shop where you can sit in - also OK. Not many other places to eat, a couple seemed to have closed down. The main attraction for us was being near The Highland Wlidlife Park - 5/10 mins drive away. Also went pony trekking at Alvie Stables - really enjoyed that.
The Cross is hosted by a couple who are pros at making every detail of your stay wonderful. The room was large, clean, and mine overlooked a river in the back of the property so we slept every night listing to the sounds of water rushing by. We were greeted with tea on the patio upon arrival. There is lovely hiking just out of the back gate. We did the 5 course tasting menu one night and it may have been the best meal of my life. Fantastic food, relaxing stay, wonderful hosts.

Breakfast was delightful. Owners were excellent. even offered complimentary wine in the evening and a wee dram before retiring. I can not fault this place. There is a shortcut into town (about 100mtrs) which was good but probably not suitable if difficulty walking. Only warning is that there are no Taxis in Kingussie at all. Nearest is miles away and about £30 just to get to Kingussie to pick you up. No problem if your walking or driving though. Will definitely use again.

Sue and Steve were extremely helpful and friendly and made us feel very welcome. Our room was very comfortable, and although it wasn't en suite we did have a bathroom to ourselves. The breakfasts were lovely and great veggie option! We highly recommend. Kingussie is a lovely village with plenty of eating options and a good location for access to the mountains.
We loved the quaint features of the property and the thoughtfully decorated interior. There are three beds, one double and two singles. The two we slept in were comfortable. The location is on the Main Street in Kingussie which was convenient. The kitchen was dated but had everything we needed. The bathroom was nice with a shower over the bath.

Absolutely brilliant reception and hospitality. The guest house is spotless and the breakfast is simply amazing. The owners really go the extra mile to ensure you feel comfortable and at home, including recommendations on best places to eat and things to do in Kingussie. I really enjoyed my stay and will gladly come back again!
