Lovely little b&b staff fantastic and very friendly room was great modern very comfortable bed big modern bathroom.Great continental breakfast served in the room with plenty of variety. The evening meal in the restaurant was great the best fish and chips ever would definitely stay again

My partner and I recently enjoyed a wonderful Valentine's Day stay at Acorn Cottage, and I can't recommend it highly enough. The location is fantastic, being close to the legendary Sherwood Forest and the Major Oak, offering opportunities for beautiful walks and exploring the area. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed. The owner was absolutely amazing – so welcoming and helpful. The cottage itself was perfect; it had everything we could possibly need and more. It truly felt like a home away from home. We had an absolutely fantastic time, and it made our Valentine's Day extra special. The location was also ideal, being close to both a pub and local shops, which was very convenient. We will definitely be booking Acorn Cottage again, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a perfect getaway, especially those wanting to explore the beauty of Sherwood Forest.

Loved our time in Laxton exceptionally pretty village with...

Loved our time in Laxton exceptionally pretty village with the DOVECOT INN serving really good food.We did miss a shop but Southwell a short drive away made up for it with an amazing Deli both eat-in or takeout and artisan bakeries. There are convenience stores within a few miles of Laxton so it’s not at all problematic if you have a car.

Just a small village, but very pretty and well kept.

Just a small village, but very pretty and well kept. There are info boards all around regarding the past, mainly referring to the strip farming process. Some nice little walks around, taking in the lovely countryside. The Dovecote Inn is very good, welcoming, with lovely food and drink!

We stayed in the suite and the room was beautiful and completely immaculate. Bed was huge and comfortable. It was a beautiful place to stay and very cosy. Lots provided for the breakfast in the room. We had some niggles but once we found the owner he was very apologetic, polite and sorted everything for us. Despite the problems we had, it was definitely worth staying here for a nearby wedding over a budget chain hotel as it was a similar price and we had a whole suite to ourselves.

Jess and her team were very passionate about providing the best possible experience for their visitors. We were made to feel very welcome. The historic nature of the Laxton village was fascinating and Jess helped us discover the background to unique traditional "Open Field" faming in the area. There was a good selection of options in the provided continental breakfast, and we also enjoyed a tasty dinner in Inn's dining room.

Fabulous little place for a getaway! Cosy, clean, peaceful, everything you need and in Samantha, a fantastic host! She brought us an amzing breakfast of choice, with everything fresh. Lovely facilities inside the cottage, which is detached from the main house, and so quiet! Laxton is a beautiful village and the pub across the road, The Dovecote, serves excellent fare and is warm and friendly. Super and highly recommended!

The Dovecot is a traditional, friendly pub with rooms in a quiet converted barn just across the car park. The rooms were very comfortable and nicely decorated. The food was very good and great value too. We got excellent service from the start to the finish of our stay. Laxton village is a pretty place with a fascinating history.
