Located in Levens, The Hare and Hounds, Levens has a restaurant, bar, garden, and free WiFi throughout the property. Boasting family rooms, this property also provides guests with a terrace. From the moment we checked in, all the staff were very friendly and approachable. The room was very spacious with a comfortable bed. En-suite good, excellent shower pressure. A variety of teas and plunger coffee in the room together with fresh milk and complimentary water (still & sparkling). Very good choices for breakfast. Ate dinner here both nights, varied menu and food very tasty. Large beer & wine list. Would definitely stay here again and will recommend to all our friends in the UK and Australia.
Located in Kendal in the Cumbria region, Well Cottage, Kendal is a 4-star property featuring free WiFi. The accommodations is 8.7 mi from Bowness-on-Windermere. Everything we needed was supplied at the cottage it was lovely that there was coffee/tea etc already there and the owner met us with fresh milk on arrival, the cottage was in an ideal location for us to travel to lots of locations in the lakes.
Set in Kendal, Gilpin Bridge Inn features a restaurant, bar, shared lounge, and free WiFi. Featuring luggage storage space, this property also provides guests with a children's playground. Chosen for the proximity to Lake District NP we were very happy staying at the inn. Rooms, though small, had everything we wanted, were newly renovated and the bathroom was great! The staff was super friendly and we had great english breakfast and tasty dinners. Would definitely recommend it to friends and family.
Levens is a pretty little place, narrow roads and lanes require care though it was not busy. I'd recommend the Hare and Hounds as a great place to eat, good food, friendly staff and reasonably priced.
I used Levens as a base and drove out each day to visit other parts of the Lake District. It’s a good location to get out onto the road and drive to other places. There did seem to be a local bus service but I didn’t use this so I’m not sure how frequent the buses are. I’d suggest that you really do need a car if you’re staying here. The local area also seemed to have good options for things to do - eg Levens Hall. Levens is a small, pretty village. The Hare and Hounds has parking so it was easy to park next to where I was staying. The pub is a friendly place to spend time. I had Sunday dinner and breakfasts at the pub - the food is of a high quality and you can tell that great care is taken in preparing and presenting it. It’s good wholesome food.
With very helpful front desk staff, the ambience was relaxing and comfortable. The quality of the rooms (despite paying the upper price of those available) was ok, not that much better than a Premier Inn just smaller. Water pressure in the shower poor to the point that when inverted, the water flow almost stopped. Lots of unmentioned stairs, no lift, uneven car park. The meals were good (breakfast) to very good (a la carte dinner). Drinks reasonable selection but on the upper level of pricing, de rigueur for this sort of location, but within reason. Television remote wasn't working and the two replacements brought up didn't work either. Easy to find and nicely out of the way. if they were aiming for "shabby chic" they aren't far off.
Our room rate was very good value . We didn't want breakfast so can't comment on the food . The room was small but clean and the showerroom was modern with good quality towels and toiletries . The room was too small for easy chairs but we were only there one night .The blind at the window was very fiddly .
Lovely park nearby to walk the dog...Levens Hall, very quiet place which was great for us. Went to see Sizergh Castle which is only minutes away in the car, fantastic Gardens and also Dog friendly. Village pub Hare and Hounds was nearby so easy to walk to for a nice meal/drink
Perfect place to stay. Tastefully decorated rooms and lovely touch of fresh cafetière coffe to make in the room with homemade brownies! Cumbrian toiletries in the lovely ensuite. Staff warm and welcoming and the real ale and food yummy. Will definitely come back and won’t hesitate to recommend to our friends
