FAQs about hotels in Llandudno

Victorian Resort with a Welsh Twist

The most popular Wales seaside resort, Llandudno covers a peninsula with 2 sandy coastlines. The North Shore’s wide Victorian promenade is lined with period buildings which now house seafront hotels and guest houses. The beach itself stretches all the way between the Little Orme and Great Orme headlands, passing an outdoor swimming pool.

A historic tram climbs to the peak of Great Orme, where Bronze Age copper mines can be visited. The top is also reachable by cable car from Happy Valley, a recreation area with gardens and an artificial ski slope.

A road runs around the base of the headland passing the historic Grand Hotel, a property available on Booking.com and overlooking the Grade II-listed pier – the longest in Wales. The West Shore is much less developed and the Maesdu Golf Course forms most of its shoreline.

Of course, Llandudno has its fair share of traditional seaside pursuits such as donkey rides and fish and chip shops.

The town also has a modern retail park near the train station and Venue Cymru event centre, and wrought-iron canopies shade smaller shops along Mostyn Avenue, Broadway and Street. The latter - Mostyn Street - is effectively the high street and becomes brightly decorated during the Victorian carnival in May.

We live about 30 miles away and enjoy staying overnight on our two day trips to the area. The town and the area has so much to offer without mentioning anything specifically. One can find anything to criticize but Llandudno has so much variety which is the reason we come here so often.

We had last visited Llandudno some 40 years ago.

We had last visited Llandudno some 40 years ago. We were not sure what to expect after visiting many other seaside towns across the UK and find them run-down, strewn with litter, little to do/see and lots of empty/closed-down stores. To our surprise and delight we found Llandudno to be clean, generally well-maintained and with lots to do during the day and various events in evenings. We also found Llandudno an excellent centre to travel out from to other places of interest within a 75 minute radius. The town also has several very good places to eat out for lunch/dinner. Apart from a busy main street shopping area new close-by retail centres with big store names should satisfy any shopaholic. Great, wide and long promenade with a long and busy pier. We were very pleased that we had made the decision to spend a week based in Llandudno.

My stay in LLandudno was only very short, I was there for a specific purpose...to watch a family member in a show at the Venue Cymru. I chose this hotel partly because of it's proximity to the theatre. This was my second short stay there and I found it was positioned perfectly for access to the town, with restaurants, shopping etc and literally across the road from the beach. The outside of the hotel is smart and well maintained, and this follows through to the interior. The steps to the front door may be daunting to less able people, but I was told by the receptionist that there is also a ramp. Llandudno itself is most appealing with it's wide bay, with the Great Orme at one end and the beautiful pier. I am sure anyone staying a few days would find more than enough to do and the restaurant we used served beautifully cooked food, which came quickly and was presented to us by friendly and helpful staff. For anyone wanting to browse the shops, there is a multitude of stores, and I think most of the big names are represented...M&S, Next, TK Maxx, Costa, and many many more. For those who prefer to avoid the shops, the beach is amazing and the promenade is wide and so clean and tidy, not a bit of litter in sight. There are plenty of benches to sit on, and shelters at regular intervals. Plenty of scope for people who wish to take a nice long walk. I would also say that LLandudno is an excellent base for visiting various places nearby, and the gardens at Bodnant are only a few miles out of town. It is a beautiful place to take a holiday and I can't wait to go back there.

Surprised for what I expected to be an old UK beach resort, had plenty of shops and restaurant's, pier did not have much but good enough. A few interesting sights nearby, close to Colwyn if you want to see the castle. Restaurants and Cafe's a lot better than expecting, some really good fish and chips and very good quality food elsewhere that we went to.

lovely clean seafront hotel - staff friendly and helpful. only stayed 1 night and opted for the 4 course meal which was lovely and good value for money at £25pp. I had an minor issue with my breakfast (felt my bacon was underdone as prefer it more crispy) and it was changed with no issues at all, great customer service. Good location, nice bar with entertainment - would recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Llandudno.
