Llanishen is a very quaint village surrounded by lovely countryside. The locals we met in the pub were very friendly from the moment we met them. We stayed and eat at the Carpenters Arms which is a gem. Very friendly and accommodating landlord called Paul. The food was excellent, especially the homemade pies.
There is very little there in the way of a pub ( it was shut when we went ) or just a shop to get a bottle of milk. You need to be travelling by car and make it into town or bring basics with you. We did so there were no problems but some self catering I've stayed at have a pint of milk in the fridge and some breakfast cereal. Dont expect that - be prepared.
We had a great holiday. On the advice of our host we visited Yat Rock and Puzzel Wood ( where some of the new Star Wars was film, almost other things)and had a fabulous time we managed to keep our 14 year old and 2 year old happy. On our way home we visited the Doctor Who Experience in Cardiff, which certainly was an experience very exciting our 2 year old coped but may be a little scary for some young children. There was lots more we wanted to do in the area so we will be returning.
