Lockerbie is very quaint and situated in beautiful countryside, with very friendly locals ,however if you don’t drive or come by car, taxis are few and far between and the town doesn’t have much to offer in the way of shopping etc Recommend the Kings Arms hotel for an affordable stay- food amazing and staff lovely
Lockerbie itself very run down not much there but ideal base for touring round the most beautiful scenic routes. There are some lovely places of interest to visit when travelling around, we visited some lovely lochs, waterfalls castles and the highest village wanlockhead has tour guides taking you down a lead mind
I use Lockerbie as my half way stop to the Highlands and always enjoy my stays. Such beautiful scenery and nature. I also pay my respects to the people lost in the tragic Lockerbie air disaster. Such a beautiful setting, so peaceful and respectful.
Ecclefechan is close by and worth a visit. Lockerbie has mostly independent shops and services including antiques, dentist and a great bakers. The town hall is a wonderful building and there is a railway station. There aren't many places to eat but I can recommend the Kings Arms Hotel for a hearty evening meal and friendly service.
Great little B&B with a friendly host, nice cooked breakfast, and comfy bed with soft sheets. Has those little touches like free packet tissues and lots of tea and biscuits that makes the stay pleasurable. Only down side is it is easily missed (my GPS directed me elsewhere with the same postcode) so look out for the small signage.
People go to Lockerbie for many different reasons, I was there to visit friends who live there. As such the location wasn’t really critical, it was just where our friends happen to be.... The town lacks a range of shops with plenty of banks and dentists, but is an old and pretty town with stone buildings and churches and municipal buildings. I love the bronze sheep in the town although I realise there are mixed feelings about the way they were funded locally. For me they give the town a different focus. Accommodation is generally expensive with no low budget or modern alternatives in the town. The historic buildings are not adaptable for disabled access and their are hills all around the town.
The dinner menu was excellent. We ended eating at the hotel both nights of our stay and the food was great both nights. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the bar offered a good range of drink options. Although next to the motorway with a view of it from the room, it was peaceful and quiet throughout our stay

Gorgeous wee railway cottage. Very well equipped kitchen including tea, coffee, pint of milk in the fridge and basic foods in the cupboard - oil and rice. Games etc in the living room and a nice wee outdoor area as well.
Lockerbie
Friendly welcome, tranquil stay, exceptionally clean accommodation and lovely breakfast. Good location as near major route to/from Scotland/England and made a change from impersonal chain hotel accommodation.
Beautiful location amazing views from the hotel which is set back it’s own grounds. Staff work hard and Glen the owner was amazing, nothing was a problem. Food was lovely too.
Very comfortable stay, wouldn’t stay anywhere else when in the area.
