Lynmouth
The Lyn Valley Hotel is located in Lynmouth, looking onto the East and West Lyn Rivers and set on the Exmoor Heritage Coast. It offers breakfast, free Wi-Fi and free private parking. I would rate the Lyn Valley Guest House a 15 out of 10 if it was allowed. It is that good. The room was fabulous. So very clean and spacious as was the bath. The location right on the river gave us both the river sound and the ocean sound as we slipped off to sleep. Besides being a great host, the extra touches that owner Laura and her wonderful helper Jeanie put into the room, such as the decanter of sherry, the fine toiletries and chocolates on the pillow, were beyond expectations. It is in a great quiet location for beach walks and strolls in the small town and the Cliff Railway will take you up to Lynton in a jiffy to other shops and places of interest. Don't miss taking a short walk to see the Valley of Rocks. We were so sorry to have to leave after only one night.

A beautiful area with great history. Some lovely little shops to visit and a choice of places to eat to enjoy traditional pasties and a cream tea or two 😃 a lovely little harbour to enjoy with some great walks along the beach and through the forest. And of course the iconic Cliff Railway taking you up to Lynton to enjoy more shops and restaurants
We really liked the view from our room. There isn’t a great deal to do within Lynmouth, we travelled out everyday. Unfortunately due to current government guidelines all restaurants were only having half their normal capacity so couldn’t get anywhere to eat any of the 3 nights we were there so again had to travel. One night we travelled as far as Ilfracombe and could only get fish n chips!!
Charming little town, plenty of eating places and several nice shops. Very busy with tourists so parking soon filled up, recommend arriving by 11 am on busy days. Very nice walk to Watersmeet along the pretty river.
Lots to do and see in Lynmouth, Linton and surrounding area. I would recommend visiting the tourist information centre for help and advice on where to visit to suit your needs. Out of season a lot of shops and attractions are closed or on limited opening hours.
If you like walking this is the place for you, leave the car at guest house and turn right for Watersmeet and beyond great 9 hour circular walk to county gate through wild woods, open heathlands and return via coast path walk for fantastic views. Or turn left and up the hill to valley of the rocks for more fantastic views and wild goats if lucky, coast paths and woodlands and woody bay has a great waterfall, even though it is a very steep climb back up. Lorna done country 15 mins away and in February no one around but you and winter birds. Lush time every visit to exmoor. Plenty of tea rooms in Lynmouth and lynton and plenty of pub food and restaurants. Also has the sea with plenty of crashing waves at high tide and loads of oyster catchers on the break. Bird paradise if that’s what your into.
Lynmouth is fab for getting back to nature and enjoying the walk up to Watersmeet - takes about an hour or so. Lovely pubs and places to eat - The Rising Sun did a great dinner - though pricey the starters were more than enough for a full me and were delicious
