Amazing location, a renovated space with almost everything you need in a gorgeous old home, and a short walk to the trailhead for Aran Fawddwy hike. Small kitchen but we were able to make toasted sandwiches, boil eggs, reheat leftovers, and make a salad. The water comes from a natural spring in the mountains. Lots of morning light, so bring a sleep mask if you want to sleep in. Note: Low ceilings in the bathroom, those over six feet will need to duck.

Gorgeous location and very well set up to enjoy the outside area, but equally cosy in-doors. We really appreciated the TV set up. The surrounding countryside is breathtakingly beautiful.

What a wonderful cottage. It was everything we could have asked for and more. The waterfall in the back garden was magical - a very soothing sound. The cottage was cosy and had everything we needed for a short stay.

If you want to stay in a great location to visit the Mach Loop, then look no further. Idyllic place with great views and very friendly hosts. Robin is a Masterchef and his food is glorious and well worth spoiling yourselves for. We also ate at The Brigands Inn on the Sunday and enjoyed a terrific roast. The Railway Inn at Abergynolwyn was a fantastic find, a true locals Inn and very enjoyable food. Lake Bala and Lake Vrynwy are worth the journey, stunning scenery. I wouldn't recommend the café at Lake Vrynwy though! The little train at Fairbourne is also worth a visit.

Mallwyd itself is a very small place but set in great countryside with mountain views and very convenient as a stopping off place when visiting the various attractions of Eryri. We have stayed on three occasions now, this time after returning from Porthmadog and a trip on the Ffestiniog Railway.

The Brigand Inn is genuinely dog friendly hotel where I and my dog were made to feel welcome. I had very comfortable accommodation with no unserviceabilities. I was there for "The Mach Loop" a well known location for photographing low flying fast jets - but do not be deceived, the jets are not a constant feature and the general area abounds with walks, fantastic scenery, and things to see and do.

Brigands Inn was terrific, with the exception of wifi problems. This is something really unfixable due to very thick walls etc. The owners tried very hard to fix this. We had a repeater in our room but still no joy! Apart from that; very friendly staff. Service great. Food delicious. Drinks also excellent. Room large and plenty of room for cases and storage (under bed sliding cases! Great). Shower over bath but bathroom good. Loo seat a problem for gents. Keeps falling! Generally we’d stay again in a flash! East to get around to see the spectacular area. Precipice walk a must. Trips to Barmouth, Harlech castle, Portmerion, Ffestiniog Railway (about 50 mins drive) and possible to do Conwy but quite a drive. Lots to do and see or just chill out! Also visited Bodnath gardens south of Conwy. Beautiful.

Kevin, the host, was very attentive, and looked after our every need, answering emails within 10 minutes. The rooms were very clean, and the bed linens were extremely comfortable. I can highly recommend the restaurant menu. The food is exceptional, and the breakfast is to die for. The staff are very, very good and nothing is too much for them. Overall we were very impressed with the hotel and will most definitely return there.

Great stay. Perfect location. Staff went out of their way to give us a lovely time. I merely asked for cutlery to take upstairs. I was handed 2 knives, butter pats, napkins and 2 plates. It really is a family orientated hotel. Don't miss breakfast ! Its so good. Also. Amy is an asset ! Thanks Amy. The beds were so comfortable. I can't remember the last time I slept for 8 hours solid. Lovely touches in the bedroom .. water bottles.. local shortbread.. local chocolate powder sachets.

Everything was perfect, the hotel was beautiful, clean, comfortable and rustic quirky decor. Our room was stunning and looked out on to beautiful landscape, not far from a beautiful little waterfall. The breakfasts we had were incredible, by far the best we've had when staying in hotels. The cherry on the cake for us was the friendliness and hospitality from hosts Robin and Jane, such lovely people. We will definitely be staying again.
