The village of Marden has ample facilities bakers, greengrocer, 3 general stores (one with post office), library, hairdressers, barbers, chemist and garage as well as a car park. There are two pubs The West End and The Unicorn both serving good beers, food and coffee. The local Tandoori restaurant or take away is very nice and friendly and the food excellent. There is also a Chinese take away and a very good fish and chip shop so plenty to choose from. All facilities are within easy reach of each other and the railway station is on the main line for London and Ashford. The Towns of Maidstone and Tunbridge wells are both within easy access and have good shopping and eating places. Tunbrdge wells is a spa town and has some lovely buildings of interest so well worth a visit. Other pretty villages not too far awau are Headcorn, Cranbrook, Goudhurst and Lamberhurst and there are lots of attractions such as Bewl water, Bedgebury Pinetum lovely for walking, and tree/plant looking. Just get in the car if you have one and have a ride through the country lanes and you will be sure to enjoy the scenery. Seaside places such as Dymchurch, Hythe (home of Romney ,Hythe and Dymchurch small railway) and Rye, Hastings and Eastbourne are not a million miles away. There is so much to do in the area.
