The Elephants Nest Inn offers pet-friendly accommodations in Mary Tavy. Guests can enjoy the on-site restaurant. We chose to have dinner, which was delicious (as was breakfast). Very charming and authentic pub & guest house. Very comfy room and bed. Pet friendly!
Located in Tavistock, Homer Farm has a garden, BBQ facilities and free WiFi in some rooms. Each room comes with a patio. My wife and I had a lovely long weekend at the Old Spot at Homer Farm. Located on a smallholding on the edge of Dartmoor. The nice couple, Alison and Alan were so friendly, welcoming and helpful. There is off road parking just across the road. Although The Old Spot is a small accommodation it had everything we needed. Very clean, nice shower and toilet, twin beds with TV on the wall and a kitchen area. It doesn't have a full cooker but had a plug in double hob, small fridge, kettle and microwave. There is a small table and two chairs just outside of the front door. I really enjoyed just sitting outside relaxing, listening to the birds, and rushing water from the stream that runs next the cottages. Each day we had a nice walk around the small holding to see the chickens, lambs, sheep, cows and pigs. We walked across a small wooden bridge that goes over the stream that leads to the Chickens and Lambs, it was so beautiful and quirky. The surrounding area is absolutely amazing. If you want to get away from it all and have some peace and tranquility this is definitely the place to go. It's only about 3 miles out from Tavistock or a 5 minute drive so you really don't need to go far for supplies. If you don't want go drive out you can buy from Homer Farm. They have a utility room where you can do laundry but also you can buy all the products from the smallholding. We had fresh free range eggs, bacon, Sausages and their homemade chutneys and jams. We will definitely be going back there. I can not recommend it highly enough. Its the perfect getaway.
Kitchen was well equipped and the cottage had everything we needed & provided a welcome home from home. We walked on Dartmoor, enjoyed cake in Tavistock (& did food shopping), visited Plymouth harbour and the Aquarium. Plenty nearby to see and do.
We had a lovely walk through the woodland along the river before returning to shower and have dinner. Food and service was excellent. Staff were friendly and helpful. Couldn't find fault with anything
We were at a wedding in Tavistock with the wedding reception in Mary Tavy. So The Elephants Nest Inn was very handy. The Inn is easy to find provided you have a detailed map. The road signs to the Elephants Nest Inn were covered in foliage & not easy to spot. The Inn has good food but closes in the afternoon, so do not rely on eating at the Elephants Nest during the day. As a result we missed lunch because the wedding was at 1.00p.m. & the official wedding reception at 7.0p.m. so we had very little after breakfast.
