Located in Newcastle in the County Down region, with Newcastle Beach nearby, Cherryhill Lodge has accommodations with free WiFi and free private parking. We had a fantastic stay at Cherryhill Lodge. We stayed in the Garden Room which has a lovely view of the garden and over the Mourne Mountains. Next to this is a lovely sun room which is a lovely place to relax, again with fantastic views. The room was clean and cosy. Breakfast was excellent and Patricia and family very hospitable. It really feels like a home from home. The property is on the outskirts of Newcastle so we'd recommend having a hire car. We hope to come back to do some walking in the Mournes.
Newcastle
The Views in Newcastle offers accommodations with free WiFi, 3.8 miles from Tollymore Forest Park. The property is less than a mile from Slieve Donard and 4.5 miles from Dundrum Castle. Everything was so straight forward, very clean and tidy, right along the promenade, very good value for a 3 nights stay. Super comfortable and cosy. We had the larger of the two rooms and the extra space was great.
Newcastle is the most beautiful seaside resort on the island of Ireland. Surely it is the place Percy French was thinking about and referring to when he penned the lyrics for the wonderful song "The Mountains of Mourne". Newcastle has the most fantastic promenade and has lots of lovely shops and pubs and at the top of the town stands the majestic Slieve Donard Hotel only overshadowed by the beautiful mountains of mourne. Newcastle is a place of great natural beauty.
Newcastle is a very lively and clean seaside town. It felt very safe and we had no issue with our teenagers being out and about late into the November evening. There are so many tempting cafes and ice cream parlors along the promenade which are lovely to pop into and grab a hot drink after your stroll along the sea front. The majority of the eateries are dog-friendly or had outdoor seating. The inside Amusement centers are always a winner however some of the games are pricy, the Bumper Cars and a VR game cost £3 per person (~€3.60). Have loads of 2p coins at the ready for the little ones with the rule "When they're gone they're gone". We had a lovely meal in The Avoca Hotel, thankfully we managed to get a booking as it was only a Friday night but I'd advise on possibly booking beforehand if you're visiting in peak season. Driving in the town is mostly a one-way system so if you miss your turn off then you have to keep going. Theres loads of shops with trinkets alongside clothes shops so really something for everyone to have a gander (look) round. There are plenty of Hiking Trails and Bike Hire is also available in the town. We drove as far as St Johns Lighthouse which has spectacular views back to the Mourne Mountains.
Newcastle has everthing you'd want for a day/stay at the seaside but needs a multi story car park somewhere. You can do multiple laps round the town(one way system) before getting a space. It can be very frustrating. The town is great though - plenty to do for everyone and it's friendly. I'd book a table for dinner somewhere next time as we ended up with a fish supper from the chippy for our special occassion!!! We went out around 7.30 and couldn't get seated anywhere.
My trip to Newcastle was so nice and the accommodation we stayed in was exceptional! Eugene our host, who we never got to meet but was available 24/7, responding to my messages and queries within minutes, was super helpful! A pleasure to stay here and will definitely be returning. The apartment was super clean, cosy, spacious and so so comfortable.
Beautiful staff made me feel so welcomed.. Even got some history of the house. Breakfast was really beautiful and just sitting looking out to sea made it even more special. Made me feel so at home in this beautiful guesthouse xx
Breathtaking sea side town with beautiful beaches and stunning scenery .Spoilt for places to eat from luxurious hotels to authentic Mediterranean cuisine .Parks and water parks for the kids .Good variety of shops .Beautiful town of Dundrum near by and Tollymkre forest park well worth a visit too .
From the moment we walked through the door we were met with exceptionally friendly hospitality and excellent service. The receptionist was so warm and friendly, as were the ladies who handled breakfast in the morning. They made us feel so welcome. The room was very spacious and the bed was incredibly comfortable and large. We had a fantastic time in Newcastle, and the views from our window onto the Mourne Mountains were breathtaking. Overall, we couldn't have asked for a better stay.

The Pub/restaurant called Percy French right next door was fab for drinks and lunch on the terrace while breakfast in the Railway Cafe right below the apartment was insane! The beach was lovely to stroll both night and day. The apartment was clean and had everything we needed.

Very close to where we wanted to be. Both my boys have additional needs so staying in a hotel doesn’t always work for us so to find this at such a reasonable price was great.
This is a family run business and I felt extremely comfortable! The food and atmosphere was fantastic! I’m looking forward to my next visit
