Located within just a short walk away Orford Castle, in the heart of tranquil village of Orford, the Crown and Castle offers highly rated restaurant with 21 bedrooms with attached bathroom. In 2018. Everything about our stay was excellent - wish it could have been longer. We arrived the afternoon of the December gales - wind howling and the rain lashing down. But this place was a haven. Lovely room overlooking the flat land out to the North Sea. Warm and cozy. Dinner was a revelation. Expected more of a pub grub type meal but it was several notches above. Log fires in the bar and Adnams Bitter on tap - great evening.
The Coach House in Orford - Air Manage Suffolk is located in Orford. The property is 10 miles from Aldeburgh. The vacation home has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom with a shower and a hairdryer. Lovely comfy cottage and garden; with practical and quirky features/decor. Had a wonderful "away from it all" weekend. Thank you so much for the fantastic welcome package.
Margo's Cottage is located in Orford. The property is 13 miles from Aldeburgh. Including 3 bedrooms, this vacation home features 3 bathrooms with a shower, a bath and a hairdryer. Brilliant location in the heart of Orford. Lovely design and just what we were after. Thoughtful touches.
The accommodation was great. Really comfortable and we really appreciated the room upgrade. Food was very good and just wish we could have stayed longer. Due to time of year (November) the nearby castle was closed but the weather was good and we got some great photos.
We really liked the castle, would have loved to get out to the lighthouse, but we were there off season. Punnets was great, some really lovely gifts, and delicious oysters. Enjoyed a nice pint of Adnams in the Jolly Sailor, which was a lovely friendly pub.
A beautiful picturesque village with lots of lovely river walks, lanes to wander down, quaint cottages, amazing river views and of course the castle. Peaceful yet enough to keep your interest. Friendly locals. Great coffee shop/bakery (Pump Street Bakery), and village store, 2 pubs serving good food (dog friendly) and much more! Easy to get to surrounding areas such as Aldeburgh, Woodbridge, Southwold etc for longer stays.
Very different but equally noteworthy attractions: - Orford Castle is very well-preserved; the exhibition is very informative - The Ness is another must-see; the place looks as if is had been build by aliens; in fact, it's a fairly recent cold-war research facility which is dilapidated enough to inspire supernatural awe - My third vote goes to the local smokery which sells its products in a little shop near the harbour; a must-visit place which offers a lot of must-buy stuff
The bakery does the best sourdough bread in the UK (world? - we have been to San Francisco). Plenty to see and do for such a small location. Ferry trips every day in the summer across to Orford Ness (NT) which is a day well spent. Church, castle, quay, renowned smokery for all sorts of smoked foods. Walks all around in the countryside. Leisure cruises up and down the river.
Beautiful, tranquil little village with a stunning castle full of history. We had a wonderful meal at the Kings Head Inn. The people of Orford are clearly proud of their village and were so friendly. We could have stayed much longer!
The property was furnished to a high standard with a well equipped kitchen. The beds really were comfortable. It has a private garden with two sitting areas both with views over fields and woods. The property is a short 10min walk to the centre of Orford. We enjoyed the walk on the raised dyke which runs along side the river Ore.
Bang in the middle of Orford. Nice property with good facilities. Parking next to the house off-road. Bathroom was lovely with plenty of hot water. Great restaurant in the village (The Butley Oysterage) if you love seafood. 1 minute walk. Some good pubs, too.
The property is within a lovely quiet road in Orford village, within a short walking distance to all the village has to offer. The property easily accommodated our party, as 4 adults with 3 small dogs. The big garden and outdoor furniture was well used.
The house is great for families, bathrooms lovely and kitchen. Bedrooms good and trampoline great for children. It is a good layout. Not far to walk into Orford. Quiet location.
Brilliant location in the heart of Orford. Lovely design and just what we were after. Thoughtful touches.
