Super walks of any length to suit any ages, walks along the river and along the Panoramic View walk. A park with benches for us oldies plus a fenced off play are for children with loads of different activities. Lots of interesting quaint shops and tea rooms. Cheap parking only £1.20 a full day or £1.80 for a 24 hours stay. We ate at the Indian restaurant which has fabulous meals (just don't look at the decor) and a very amiable young man serving, just take your own alcohol. There's a small spar shop for all essentials but bread and cake shops, hardware shop and jewellery and 2 butchers to name but a few. We cannot wait to go again!
Pateley Bridge is a comfortably large village/market town nestling in Nidderdale. It has good facilities, bakers, tea shops, pubs, restaurants, art shops, open space and of course the oldest sweet shop in England! Pateley is well located for walks both short and long with the National Trust Brimham Rocks, being only 12 minutes away. Fountains Abbey is 25minutes away towards Ripon, which is itself, a must see place. The town of Grassington (film location for the Ch5 All Creatures Great and Small), is some 9 miles to the west on the Skipton Rd. At Pateley you are 'in' the heart of real Yorkshire. You will return.
only there three nights and wasn't fussed about pub after months of lockdown, so used the three takeaways in village, indian, chippy and pizza, and they were all absolutely delicious and very good value you have butchers, spar and co-op, ideal for self catering, lots of walks on the doorstep also
We have been regular visitors to Pateley Bridge for 25 years - last year we visited on 8 occasions, spending nearly 3 months there! Clearly we love it. Wherever you go there is a warm, friendly, genuine welcome. We particularly like Harefield Hall - get there early for pole position in front of the log fire (unless its July of course). Lovely owners and really good food. Other good eateries include The Crown in the High Street (we ate there last night) and Olleys (Italian) - have eaten there on numerous occasions. Also, you have to visit the Pancake House - at least TWICE - try the waffles. This area is a walkers paradise but even if you are not into hill-walking there are several 'flat' walk around numerous reservoirs such as Scar House, Angram, Grimwith, Thruscross and Swinsey.
A lovely town with lots to see. Pleasant independent shops with friendly helpful shopkeepers. We especially enjoyed finding a group of Artists at 'The Workshops' where we discovered Potters, Jewellery Designers plus wonderful and fascinating Glass Blowers. A real delight!
The Saturday that we spent there was warm and sunny and had attracted a lot of visitors (the cycling races were on this weekend too). The shops were interesting with good selection. The waffle and ice cream shop very close to the bridge served me with the biggest double scoop ice cream I have ever had, and at a reasonable price. We also stopped for a tea and scone halfway up the hill, and found the staff welcoming and efficient. All in all, we would recommend Pateley Bridge to others.
Pateley Bridge
Very cosy & well equipped cottage, with thoughtful touches throughout (including being very dog friendly!) Generous welcome package & the owners were very helpful upon ringing to get the key code. Location was brilliant - under 10 mins walk to Pateley Bridge with nice pubs/shops & beautiful countryside walks from the doorstop. Also, very pretty setting on Bewerley Green.
Pateley Bridge
Perfect location just off the main street in Pateley Bridge. The apartment was much bigger than we had expected, beautifully furnished and exceptionally clean. Access to the hot tub was via steps to a private garden for our use only. Each apartment had its own separate entrance and we were unaware of any noise from other occupants.
Pateley Bridge
The setting, building and decor were lovely. The staff were amazing. The views were exceptional. The bar and drinks were good too. For a well priced stay a short walk from Pately Bridge it's a really good option, I'd just suggest eating elsewhere as the restaurant menu is dated and the food is average.
