Winchelsea (Near Pett)
Built in 1860, Manor Farm Oast is located in the middle of a working farmland and features a garden and free on-site parking. We chose this B&B as a last minute decision to have a day on the south coast. I'm glad we did. It was very quiet at niight (it's in the middle of nowhere) just how we like it. We both had the full english breakfast, served between 8-30 and 9-00 which was hot and served on hot plates. It was well cooked and plenty of it. There was a good choice of cereals, as well as the usual tea, toast and orange juice. The room we had was large and clean.

A lovely village to stay in. Near to the country parks where the walking & views over the coast were beautiful. A short drive into Hastings (loved the crazy golf) & not to long a drive to Eastbourne & Beachy Head for even more amazing walks & scenery. Our stay at the Two Sawyers pub (in Pett), where we had excellent breakfast & evening meals, was lovely & comfortable with a warm welcome.
Ideal spot for walks in the hilly countryside and the white cliffs, nearby nature reserve of Hastings. We visited Hastings (old town, East Hill/West Hill, nature reserve), Eastbourne/Beachy Head and Seven Sisters, Rochester/Chatham, Canterbury, Dover.
The historical Hastings and the Quaint cobbled streets of Rye, miles of sandy beach in cambersands to the pebbled beach at Winchelsea all within a few miles from Pett. Highly recommend the Two Sawyers and the Royal Oak pubs in Pett and the cafe on Pett level road Winchelsea for outstanding welcoming, excellent food and great value for money. Ramblers, Cyclists, Dog Walkers, Bird Watchers to those that love family days on the beach, a taste for Tea and Scones, History, Real Ales and Country pubs this is the place to visit.
We walked through Pett and drove to Rye, Battle, Hastings, Winchelsea and Eastbourne. We went to the pub The Two Sawyers across from Woodpeckers Cottage which has lovely grounds to sit outside in the sunshine. It is very nice inside too - olde worlds and serves delicious meals.
Not much in Pett itself but close to Hastings, Rye & Winchelsea Rye is well worth a visit, lovely to walk around & finish with a cream tea We had fish & chips in Hastings, but watch the seagulls! Winchelsea very pretty, not much there but very peaceful. We are fairly local so do know the area
If you want a relaxing and quiet retreat then Pett is a very good option. It is within a very short drive of Hastings, Camber Sands and other places of interest in East Sussex. The nearest beach is just over a mile away and a pleasant walk down country lanes. The beach itself is very interesting as at low tide you can examine a fossil forest. The Hastings Country Park is also very close and there are many wooded glens that can be visited. Pett itself is just one long village either side of a very minor road. So far as we could make out there is no shop but a church and another pub but the Two Sawyers seems to be the focal point of the village.
