We was woken at 3am in the morning by the fire alarm cause by a member of staff. We went down for breakfast which we had to pre order the night before. We had to wait 15 minutes to go in was offered the breakfast before the cereal.Got the wrong cereal tried to explain to the waiter but he didn't understand.Next waited over 10 minutes for the breakfast and when we finally got it,it was not what we had ordered and it was cold.So all we had for breakfast was cereal and cold toast.
Unfortunately unless you are a guest attending a wedding then prepare to be ignored or treated as if you do not matter! The customer service was appalling. Several members of staff at breakfast were rude and very unfriendly. The room we stayed in was outdated and not up to standard for the price we paid. We were very disappointed. The views were incredible and made up slightly for the shabby room and horrible customer service. We will not be returning which is a great shame given the location and views
One of my favourite views is the one from the grounds of Raven Hall. We love to walk down to Robin Hoods Bay on the cliffs and stop at Boggle Hole for a coffee! The seal colony is amazing to watch and listen to from the far end of the grounds. We ate at the Brythstones Inn close by and the food and atmosphere were great.
Great place for walking, watching seals good local beach many steps to climb down to beach so be aware, views to die for,no shops. Raven Hall has great views from restaurant, friendly staff and do a great afternoon tea pre book, grounds good to walk around sat in lower gardens very peaceful and a sun trap, now have eco lodges to stay in,self catering.these are in the grounds of the hall. Good local B&B's and cottages to stay even a windmill.
Fascinating history of the “town that never was”. Great for walking, nature and views. Look out for the seals on the rocks below the cliffs. We also saw deer wandering along the cliff tops. Limited facilities in Ravenscar but with transport Robin Hood’s Bay provides a good choice of eating establishments.
Ravenscar has the advantage of feeling remote and wild, without actually being too far away from the town. If you like bracing sea air and fantastic sunset views then this is the place to stay. The pubs are great and the walks to get there are picturesque and gently undulating. Perfect for fans of hiking, jogging, cycling and eating.
Wonderful rooms with large comfortable beds. Gorgeous gardens. Fabulous location. Quiet and restful. Excellent food. The spa was an added bonus. Can highly recommend. Will be back.
