Located in Rayleigh, Castle Cottage is 3.1 mi from Hadleigh Farm and 1 hour by car from central London. Free WiFi is offered throughout the property and free private parking is available on site. The location was excellent, practically the centre of Rayleigh with parking, everything you could possibly need right on your doorstep, the house was lovely, very clean & comfortable, again with everything you could need. Rob, the host is a great person, very accommodating & more than helpful, I will definitely book with Rob again when in the area, thanks Rob.
An excellent High Street with lots of shops (both independent and chain), with places to eat and drink (huge breakfast in The Roebuck - Wetherspoons) plus an indoor market,. There'a a Dutch Cottage, a windmill and a museum. There are lots of parks (including King George V and Rayleigh mount) for a morning walk, plus ample parking. Great links to Southend and London Liverpool Street.
Plenty of good restaurants and pubs / bars. Also old places to visit , church , castle ,windmill and very old Dutch cottage . Many shops . Walking distance to station, so easy for travelling to London.
Nice town. Family live there. Lively at night. Lots of stores. On main road to city but traffic heavy at times. Ate in harvester restaurant next door. Very good. 15 min from hadliegh castle. Olympic mountain bike course open there. Rent or take your own bike. Fantastic scenery
We didn't go around Rayleigh as we had only come for 2 nights and we chose to go by bus to Southend and re-visit old haunts. No driving was an enjoyable factor. We ate in the Harvester next door the first evening, but the following day we ate out.
We loved the vintage clothing shop - new clothes using vintage patterns. Weatherspoon's breakfast was good and bakery and cafe opposite M&S was a treat. nice little shopping town and park at Rayleigh Mount a nice little relaxing space. The people were really really friendly - gave my children a discount without asking in the vintage shop - really lovely in there - wish we lived closer, I'd get party outfits from there - really special - mentioned it twice because it made such an impression on us.
a lovely small town with nice shops and lots of good places to eat and have a drink. The people we met were all very helpful and friendly. The church is a really quaint and a fine historical building and looks great overlooking the town. A nice park too with playground and plenty of open space.....all in all a nice town.!!!!
