Beautiful place. Loads of lovely small back streets with unique shops to wander down. Loads of places to eat out. Views from the bridges were amazing. Everything once parked up just seemed within walking distance.
We liked the restaurants and cafés. There are many interesting places to visit nearby. We enjoyed Syon Huse, Osterley House and the London Wetland Centre. It's an easy train journet to Waterloo Station for Central London. I wouldn't want to live under the Heathrow flight path.
We have visited Richmond many times before and twice passed through it on long distance walks. It is a town full of character and, for walkers, ideally situated between Richmond Park, with its herds of deer and flocks of squawking green parrots, and the famous Kew Gardens. We loved having breakfast at the Hollyhock cafe, situated in the town park above the river. Just a little upstream, lies the National Trust's property of Ham House. Always worth a visit.
We didn't get to explore the area fully as we were only there for one night. Will did get to check out the stunning views of Richmond Hill and eat at the cafe located in Buccleuch Gardens. Food was great!
There are plenty of parks in Richmond. There is a long footpath along the river. Kew garden is at easy walking distance from the center. Bus 490 takes you from the station to Heathrow airport every 10 minutes in 50 minutes.
Room was great. Two big beds, tv, ac and a large tub. Breakfast was splendid, lots of options and staff kept bringing out fresh food quickly. Sadly, the dinner was less than expected. We shared apple salad, was good. Fried pork belly was more like eating from a pub and the steak was not impressive as it was not seasoned well. Would stay again.
