With parts of the building dating back 700 years, this former coaching inn stands on the market square in the ancient city of Ripon, at the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales. Room was spacious. En-suite bathroom also spacious. Staff was friendly and helpful. I would stay again there if I happen to visit Ripon again.
Offering good Yorkshire food, real ale, free parking, log fires and traditional hospitality, the Ripon Spa Hotel is within easy walking distance of Ripon city center, 20 minutes from Harrogate. Location is excellent, the gardens are beautiful. Very comfortable bed, large bathroom.
Mallard Grange is a 16th-century farmhouse set half a mile from the World Heritage Site of Fountains Abbey. Extremely friendly host. Made to feel at home immediately. Beautifully cooked breakfast to order. Very large bedroom with TV seating area and decent sized bath/shower room. Spotless.
Located in Ripon and with Lightwater Valley Theme Park reachable within 1.8 miles, The Bull Inn West Tanfield has a garden, non-smoking rooms, free WiFi and a bar. We have stayed in other places locally and driven through West Tanfield many a time. Decided to give it a go this time and WOW what a lovely place. OK so the sunshine helped and sitting on the lawn by the river is idyllic. The location is perfect for us. Hotel staff couldn't have been more accommodating and pleasant even though they were VERY busy with the weather being so good. Room was small but very comfortable and well appointed. Food was 100% excellent. Breakfast (included) was top notch too. We cannot rate this any higher. We had a lovely weekend, thanks to everyone at the Bull Inn.

Ripon is worth a visit. Nice old English town, beautiful cathedral. Plenty of restaurants and pubs. A footpath leads to Studley Royal Park and the breathtaking ruins of Fountains Abbey within the park.
A pretty cathedral town with plenty of places for lunch, tea or dinner. Apparently shopping is better at Harrogate but Market day on Thursday was nice. Go to the town square at 9pm any night of the year to witness the Wakeman blowing a horn 4 times and giving a short talk about the origins of this tradition.
Pretty Yorkshire city with a beautiful cathedral that's well worth a visit. If you're there in an evening, go to the square, in front of the town hall to see the wakeman at 9:00pm. He blows the horn, then gives a short very interesting talk about the tradition.
Never been to Ripon before, it was my first time, although my partner had been there before. Well worth seeing the Hornblower at 9pm at the square, stay awhile and the Hornblower will give you some history.
We were located in the countryside outside Rippon and only went through the town once but looked very pretty. The countryside in and around Harrogate is stunning with lots of interesting things to do and see, with or without young children and dogs.
Although Ripon could do with some upgrading by the local council spending some money on it there are still some reasonable pubs and small restaurants available and the cathedral is worth a visit. Also very near to other towns and attractions in the area.

New, clean and stylish rooms in a beautiful old building. The rooms are so pretty and have everything you need from tea, coffee and cookies to hairdryer and toiletries. Breakfast is a short walk across the courtyard to a cute breakfast room. Excellent food and many options. We enjoyed a beautiful walk in the immediate area. Ripon is a short drive away. Plenty of restaurants there for dinner.

The location is great. You are right in the market square and can walk right outside the hotel doors to see the historic Ripon Horn Blower. The horn blower has been setting the watch nightly at 9 pm since 886 AD. This is a piece of history that should not be missed while you are in Ripon.

Location was great for us, just a few miles from Ripon and Fountains Abbey. Situated on the banks of the river, with a beer garden at the rear, it was a good spot, particularly as the weather was fantastic during our stay.
