We were welcomed with open arms and made to feel at home right away. Everything from the scenery and accommodation down to the well stocked fish in the ponds are very well looked after and so beautiful. The pod cabins we stayed in were clean comfortable and have everything you need ready and waiting for your arrival We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and will definitely be returning in the near future

Nice hotel, rooms are in blocks not in the main building, plenty of parking. Room was a good size, bathroom a bit small, bed was comfortable. Food in the restaurant was excellent, staff were very friendly and helpful, booking in and out very easy.

We were in the area as we were going to a party nearby. This was the best, cost cost-effective hotel in the area. I was please to have made the close, especially as we were given a free upgrade! The room itself was, while quite basic, very clean. The bed was excellent. Just what was needed after a long night of drinking! We didn't originally book for the breakfast, but paid £10 each on the day. Well worth it and the food was lovely. There was no water with the fruit juices for breakfast which was a shame. We were given some once we asked though. The staff were courteous at all times. All in all a very pleasant stay. I would definitely stay here again in/when I'm back in the area.

Rivenhall was a nightmare away from home.
Rivenhall was a nightmare away from home. I never usually do reviews but I want to avoid people having this experience. The hotel was unclean, had an awful stench I could not identify. There were cobwebs in the rooms, mould in bathrooms (the bathroom was very dirty please see pictures), dirty carpets. It is more like a 1 or 2 star. This hotel needs a major renovation and is not worth what they are charging. Staff are unfriendly and rude. I wish I'd read reviews when booking ita major disappointment and ruined my stay in Colchester. Avoid this hotel do not stay here you will be majorly dissapointed.

Very old & tatty the musty smell was just awful definitely needs a revamp, receptionist had no customer service skills, having to pay only by card ( should state this clearer when booking) was a pain

The staff were friendly and very helpful with answering questions and trying to assist us.we enjoyed the food and atmosphere of the restaurant where we ate our evening meal and our breakfast the following morning. We found everywhere to be clean and cosy. But I felt a little disappointed with our bedroom. Although it was very clean and comfortable, it had more of a holiday chalet feel to it rather than a hotel bedroom. But overall my wife and I enjoyed our stay and would book it again.
