This review is more about Lewis and Harris, Sandwick is a small suburb of Stornaway. It has an interesting memorial to HMS Iolaire. We spent 4 nights on the island. Although the weather was pretty awful, the island is lovely and we spent a fair bit of time touring Lewis and Harris. The Butt of Lewis is nice and there is a lovely walk to Eoropie bay with lovely sandy beach. We are interested in birds and found Red necked Phalorope, GND, Red throated Diver, Golden Eagle, Guillemots, Fulmars etc. Take the drive across Pentland Road it is lovely and good for birds. Sadly we didn't really have raptor weather (lots of rain). Stornaway is a bit limited - if you want to dine out book well ahead as there aren't many places and they fill up quickly. We enjoyed the Boatshed at the Royal Hotel for dinner. EVERYTHING closes on Sunday (including most of the petrol stations so beware).Guest review byPaul A. MooreUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Sandwick was pretty quiet but it was just outside of Stornoway which was good enough for us as the property was nice and cosy. Most of the sights we went to see was out with sandwick, more stornoway and further afield. So I’m not reviewing sandwick. Book your meals in Stornoway in advance, busy even on a Tuesday. Also make sure you don't try to pack too many activities into one day, if using local buses. They can be few and far between, although they arrived as per timetables. Boatshed good place to eat and drink.
