Located on Scalloway’s waterfront with views of the harbour from the hotel's 2 AA Rosette-awarded restaurant, Scalloway Hotel provides modern en suite accommodation in the Shetland Mainland. We were recommended The Scalloway Hotel as having the best food on the Island - and it did not disappoint.
Easterhoull Chalets is set in Scalloway. This chalet comes with 2 bedrooms, a TV, and a kitchenette. Cycling and fishing can be enjoyed nearby. Lerwick is 8 km from the chalet. Everything was perfect for a family holiday. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend for families with young children.
Glen B&B is located in Hamnavoe and overlooks a natural harbour and the Atlantic Ocean. Thank you! everything about my stay was just what I needed, from a busy life your B&B is a haven to rest and relax in beautiful location. Breakfast was excellent and more than I could eat. Located in Hamnavoe, Fishers Croft provides accommodation with a patio and free WiFi. The property has sea views and is 16 km from Lerwick. The views are just gorgeous and inside is just lovely. So much thought has gone into this place that it supplies everything you could ever need. So clean and with beautiful flowers inside for your arrival. I would highly recommend this cottage, we didn't want to leave.
Located just a 10-minute drive from Lerwick, Herrislea House Hotel is licensed and offering snacks and mini meals using local products, free WiFi in all rooms, and free parking. The hotel had a lovely ambience enhanced by the friendly owners and staff. There was a lovely blend of Scottish and African cultures with many artefacts collected by the owners during their time overseas.
Located less than 3 km from Lerwick centre, Studio Upper Baila offers accommodation in Lerwick. The unit fitted with a kitchenette with an oven, microwave and washing machine. Great studio! It was clean, comfy and very well equipped. It's a good place for exploring Lerwick and the Mainland of Shetland! Supermarket (Tesco) 800 meters. Absolutly brilliant.
Scalloway is a beautiful part of Shetland. Scalloway castle is definitely worth a visit, and as it is only 5 miles from Lerwick means that it is a good base for travelling around the rest of the Shetland mainland.
Although small Scalloway had everything we needed. It was within easy reach of some spectacular coast line and land and seascapes. Time passed very quickly. Lerwick was within 10 miles and the Shetlands museum was outstanding. We had some good meals in the Scalloway hotel, the Gurkha Kichen, tbe cornerstone cafe a d restaurant the Hays Dock cafe in the Shetlands heritage .museum.
Scalloway is very typical of a heritage worthy town with good facilities and right at the centre of a very active commercial fishing industry. So much to see and take in from this central Shetland location.
Perfect location to use as a base to explore Shetland. A pretty harbor town, around the Scalloway Castle. Plenty of places to eat, walk, sightsee, rest and watch the world go by. Places to eat include, Scalloway Hotel, ( excellent ), Da Haaf at the marine centre. ( excellent ) . The super market is open all day and it's hard to find something you can't get from there.
Scalloway is a great wee place to base yourself for a trip to the area. The Scalloway Hotel serves brilliant food. There are regular buses to the bus station at Lerwick for further travel. We went on a wildlife tour and were picked up from right outside our accommodation and taken to see mountain hares and otters.
Working fishing commuinity. Harbour, dry docks, chandlers, marine engineers. Beautiful bay with views out to sea. Sea birds. Very little allusion to tourism and delightfully quiet, but good facilities for travellers. Scalloway Hotel and Corner Cafe both offer good accommodation and very good food. Two general stores both open until 10p.m. daily. Reliable bus service to Lerwick seven days a week, to facilitate connecting bus services and ferries throughout Shetland. Hourly service Mon - Fri. from Scalloway begin at 7.30a.m. Different time table Sat. & Sun. Very good. Good walking from Scalloway. Scalloway museum well worth a visit. Perfect for walkers. Shetland in general is easy for travel by public transport, which is very reliable but do allow enough time for connections. Pace of life is gentle. Many indigenous people still living and working in Scalloway. Very friendly folk. The islands are much larger than I had imagined. Endless things to see. Wild flowers beautiful especially in spring.
