Shaldon is a unique place to stay close to the beach . ( ferry runs from the shore to Teiignmouth Lots to do for children As safe especially low as can use their surf boards or small boats as very safe . Parking is premium but there is parking up on the ness at the end of village which also has a smugglers beach through tunnels plus a small zoo The bakery is in the village and sells amazing pasties fresh cakes & bread . There is also a fish chip shop & a Spar selling essentials . Overhaul everything you need . We have had many happy years there with our children and now grandchildren .
Ness cove beach is really nice, accessible through a smugglers tunnel and dog friendly all year round. The Ness pub does great food and has great views overlooking the water to Teignmouth (see photo) and also The London Inn which is a lovely little village pub on the green (staff there were fantastic every time we visited). We did drive into Dawlish Warren a couple of times as the beach there is softer sand and dogs are permitted further along, we also drove over the bridge from Sheldon to Teignmouth for a wonder round and to also walk along the beach (another dog friendly beach). Back in Sheldon Village there is a nice little cafe called the Clipper cafe which serves good food and has lovely outside seating with great views. Overall a very pretty and friendly little village.
The ferry is a most along with the pub on the front where you can sit and enjoy the fantastic views of the boats. The village is small but very interesting and a great place to walk round . Car park by the zoo gives you a good view but a little hilly.
The park was in a very pretty area. The caravan was an older caravan but clean and tidy, although a little bit in the trees. No sunshine. However value for money was very acceptable and you get what you pay for. We had a lovely 3 day break.
I canot belive i paid money to stay here place needs badly updateing worst of all were the beds like a slab of concrete and ridiculous plastic bedding that is more on the floor than on bed. being advertized as free internet NOT TRUE only available at resturant which is only open certain times I actually rang trading standards as this is miss reping my advice to anyone is DO NOT GO NEAR IT as you will regret it .
This side of the bridge has a pleasanter, more upmarket and strangely livelier feel than Teignmouth. The views across the estuary and nearby coastal walks to the south are delightful. Some of the eateries and pubs in Shaldon are very good and worth revisiting. Walking across the bridge to Teignmouth for shopping etc. offers wonderful views up the estuary / river. It is a very beautiful spot overall.
This property is clean and furnished to an excellent standard. The owners are most welcoming. The facilities at the property are excellent. The property is spacious but cosy and the linen and towels provided are all excellent quality. The outside area gives gorgeous views and you are not too far from some lovely pubs. We enjoyed a really peaceful and relaxing break. Can’t wait to visit again!
A very comfortable property, well furnished and tastefully decorated. Centrally located in the village of Shaldon giving easy access to all the local pubs, shops, cafes, restaurants etc and beach. The log burner was a pleasant surprise and worked really well.
