A 1-minute walk from the beautiful Sherborne Abbey, the Half Moon provides stylish accommodations in the center of this pretty Dorset town. The warm and friendly welcome never differs, it’s every time I have visited. The Half Moon is an old girl now but you can see that Marston Inns take a pride in it even though it must cost a fortune to maintain. It will always be my go-to choice in Sherborne. excellent value too.

In an elegant Edwardian building, The Kings Arms boasts traditional charm and antique features. Located in rural Dorset, the 5-star hotel offers free parking, free Wi-Fi and a celebrated restaurant. Very warm welcome and attentive staff, nothing was too much trouble. Tony, the owner, was on hand to answer any queries and all the staff were very friendly. All areas were very clean with good Covid-19 practice throughout, which wasn’t obtrusive. Very comfortable room and super shower in the bathroom. Large fluffy towels changed daily and bathrobes gave the extra touch of luxury. We ate in the bar a couple of evenings and the menu choices were good with fresh local produce, beautifully presented - scallops and sole particularly good! Quiet but convenient location for exploring pretty towns and villages and within reach of Jurassic Coast. The garden was a relaxing place to sit and enjoy the sunshine with a drink or pot of tea. We had a relaxing, enjoyable stay and would definitely come back!

A friendly and beautiful historic town with the most perfect examples of rural English picturesque premises. We were welcomed into the Abbey and treated to hearing the incredible choir and organist practicing for Evensong, while our boys were shown some of the secrets hidden within the amazing sculpted ceiling. A lovely place to wander the streets a while and soak up some history. Well worth a visit to nearby Cerne Abbas too. We will be back!
Pleasant high Street with attractive old buildings and shops with some luxury items, some less so, and others with ordinary ware. Traffic not as noticeable as in many English towns and villages. Off high street, pretty gardens to see. Several coffee shops and we visited a good restaurant 'The Green'.
Sherborne is a pretty historic town with a beautiful abbey and plenty of pubs/restaurants to enjoy. There are a number of local/boutique shops along the high street as well as some of the smaller chain stores. Be sure to book ahead for any restaurants at busy times and be aware that a number are not open on Sunday evenings.
Sherborne is worth a visit. It has a lovely Abbey and lots of independent shops. It has a buzzing atmosphere. I stayed at the Plume of Feathers and ate lunch at the Eastbury Hotel. Both were excellent.
On the day in question (which was a Thursday), a number of attractions were closed (i.e. the castle for one), but nevertheless there were other places to see. One such place would be the Abbey. It is completely free, although you can make a voluntary donation and in my opinion it's worth at least a £10 donation, which was the minimum a group of four of us elected to pay.
Sherborne is a lovely picturesque town and the abbey was a revelation It seemed pretty quiet too which was good for us There didn’t seem to be many evening dining opportunities though One pub had an excellent menu but didn’t serve food in the evening which is pretty disappointing to say the least
Sherborne
The location is wonderful, especially with the surrounding countryside offering various walks and the bonus of a working commercial bakery next door :-) Annie and Colin were the perfect hosts, giving enough space for us but we knew they were always available if there were any problems. Sherborne is a lovely well-appointed town with lots to see even in limited lockdown. The breakfast was delicious with local produce much in evidence - the cereal lasted us all week. Convenient parking. Able to use the garden for R&R.
Sherborne
The apartment was very comfortable and quiet, well equipped, clean and a great location from which to explore Dorset and Somerset. Lovely views from the main window. The hosts are so kind and helpful. The nearest town is Sherborne, a beautiful old market town with good pubs, independent shops., the Abbey and two castles! Wonderful English countryside, woods and rolling hills. Perhaps an hour and a half drive to the nearest sea. Quite a few National Trust and English Heritage properties nearby.
The food was really very good with a decent menu with plenty of choice, but not too much, if you know what I mean. The food was delicious both for dinner and for breakfast. The accommodation was spotlessly clean with beautiful rooms which were very comfortable. The staff are outstanding and the location is about as perfect as it can be. The very heart of Sherborne. I cannot recommend The Cross Keys more. If a room is available, do yourself a favour and book it.
Sherborne
Beautiful comfy cottage in peaceful surroundings, well equipped and perfectly decorated and furnished. Felt instantly at home with a thoughtful welcome basket and tea and coffee provisions. Great location for nearby village facilities at Milborne Port, and Sherborne is just a short drive for the Abbey and interesting shops. Look forward to staying again!
Sherborne
We liked the fresh fruit platter at breakfast. We were interested in the history of the house and of Sandie's willingness to tell us all that she knew about the property. The bottles of water in the room were an added nice touch. This B&B is very well placed for walking to a pub for dinner and for exploring Sherborne on foot.
Sherborne
Unbelievable food, very hospitable staff, lovely location. We didn't get the best weather for walking but did go into Sherborne for the Saturday market which is beautiful and visited Haynes Motor Museum on the way home on Sunday which was a brilliant morning out.

We were really amazed by the size and cleanliness of the property we stayed in. What's more, our hosts were very attentive and always enquiring about our needs and comfort. The cleanliness was beyond compare, far outdoing any hotel we have stayed in.
