As a launch point for hiking in the Yorkshire Dales, Skipton is overall as good as you can get, in my opinion. It is not as expensive or posh as nearby Malham, and has a large Tesco, some decent pubs and restaurants and cafes, and the people I met were all friendly. It is a shame that my stay there was marred by the nightclub (what need is there for this in a place like Skipton?) and the awful disrespectable drunk people staggering out of it, fighting in the street. If Skipton got rid of those elements it would be a joy to visit.
An excellent place to visit , very friendly , plenty to do , great pubs and restaurants . Plenty of hidden gems to find , plenty of good shops and markets . Parking not great the Long Stay Car Park is best option with easy access to town .
called into Skipton on way back from a weekend away for Sunday lunch.A charming little market town that i have passed through many a time but never had the time to stop and have a look around was plesently supprised.I would defo come again in summer with my wife we loved its charm and had a good pub meal in Red Lion to
Skipton is the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales. The town itself has much to offer - a fantastic castle and wonderful old church. It's located on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal and offers wonderful canal path walking. The transportation is excellent - convenient trains and busses connect to major points - Carlisle, Leeds, and Manchester. The region offers endless hiking opportunities - Grassington, Ribblehead Viaduct, Malham Cove - the list is endless. The city center has excellent restaurants and shops. Our eight days there went by much too fast.
We love Skipton, a lovely traditional Market town, plenty to see and do, the castle is a must, with plenty of reasonably priced parking, £2.50 for the day at the Castle Parking, within reasonable distance from the centre. Saturday = Market day.
Lovely town with canal walks & boat trips available, beautiful woodland walks from the town , market days and plenty of nice shops , not forgetting a castle dating back to 1314 which is a big bonus, and a must for any visitor to Skipton . Places to eat a pleanty the gateway to the Dales & well worth a visit .
Very comfortable cottage (with parking) in the centre of Skipton - a short walk from everything (shops, market, canal, supermarkets, restaurants and take-aways, pubs, train and bus station, castle, moor). Good location for walks in Malham and Bolton Abbey. Good kitchen, bathroom and sitting room facilities and a very comfortable bed. TV stations were limited but not a problem for us. Very easy to contact the owners who were quick to respond.

Friendly staff , really made us welcome , excellent first class breakfast would put some hotel chains to shame . We also had dinner and that was good too. The room had everything we needed even bottled water .
Quiet location, good views, close enough to walk into Skipton, spotlessly clean, care package on arrival. We’ve stayed in 8 different cottages, houses, flats in Skipton and this is the best bar none.

Just one room available described as a club room. These would be their lowest priced rooms. It was a pleasant comfortable room. We slept well, no noise though fairly close to A56. Very good choice of meals for dinner. Breakfast was superb, so much on offer - fruit juices, yoghurts, cereals, fruit, full range of hot tasty food. The dining room has lovely open log fires

The breakfast was tasty and plentiful. The owners Jean and Robert were kind and considerate. We loved everything about our stay there and hope to return some day!
