Southend (bearing in mind our visit was in Winter!)

Southend (bearing in mind our visit was in Winter!) is actually really nice. We didn't expect much (we expected Morecambe, but got Southport!). There decent shops; the promenade was clean and open. We ate in The Last Post, but would certainly try other places when we visit again. It is hard to give a fair representation of a town after a very brief visit, but it made a sufficiently good impression for us to want to see more, when the opportunity arises

We had a fantastic time but will never bist Toby carvery"s half way house again as staff were rude and couldn't deliver on an ice cream pudding and then charged us over our Groupon voucher people were leaving by the bucket load due to the apaulling service and badly trained staff a complaint to Toby carvery is in the process. But other than that Southend on sea is a lovely place a great beach and super shopping centre and old Leigh had the best seafood I had tasted in a long time

We originally found this location as a possible date weekend...

We originally found this location as a possible date weekend away from our son but time didn’t work out so took him too as a mini break. Worked well with him and we will come back for date night! There are lots of hotels within good distance of things. There are a number of arcades which although all have the same kind of games also share tickets which was good. The indoor fair was brilliant, I love the contactless game pass! Made us try different games and decent things on offer for tickets earned. The indoor fair rides and even more the softplay was brilliant! Extremely busy on a Saturday but was brilliant it’s big it has so much for kids to do and all three of us had a great time! The sea life centre was great too the staff were super friendly and the animals have amazing enclosures, nice to have a mixture of animals too and they all seemed content in their enclosures. The fun fair itself looks great with a variety of rides! Alas we couldn’t this time due to the tiny human but look forward to coming back. Top it all there is a revolution bar as well which hands down I am so happy we found! Been once before and food is super cheap and mega cheerful! Cocktails are to die for and again the staff were great and really friendly with my son. The walk along the seafront between funfair and sea life there is a stone and sand beach, play park and fountains for kids to play in. Please fly surprised by how much there is to do for us as a family and as a couple and how cheap it all is! Was only a short stay but there are tons to do

First visit to Southend on sea and our last it's a very run down area lots of buildings shut down and lots of litter not a huge variety of good places to eat or decent bars to drink I'm sure in it's day but it's extremely tired and run down now.

enjoyed the visit as i had never been before. very much like Blackpool in the south. People were friendly restaurants were excellent we had great food every night. We went to Piccolos for a lovely Italian meal. Stacked for a vegetarian BBQ meal. im not a vegetarian but that meal was the best of the week.walking round southend was easy we rode the train out to the end of the pier but walked back enjoyed it all. would avoid the boat trip to Kent as the boat trip is far better than the village in Kent.

We live fairly near but wanted to stay somewhere so we didnt...

We live fairly near but wanted to stay somewhere so we didnt have to drive home after a nightime show in the Cliffs Pavilion Westcliff. We visit often but this time we did the pier museum which is currently open at weekends. They have lots of old artefacts from previous piers as it has been burnt down 4 times since the 1930/40s. Very nice volunteer staff in there to answer any questions about the exhibits and about Southend as they are local people. Parking is expensive and mostly permit only which is another reason we stayed in a hotel with free parking. If not staying we go in by train for the day. We ate at the Three Shells on the promenade at lunchtime and had a meal at the Pavilion Restaurant at the theatre in the evening which is only available if booking a show or event and must be booked in advance but good food and service and reasonably priced.

Our room was huge, at the front of the hotel, we had a super comfy double bed, two chairs in the bay window, a full wardrobe with ironing board and iron, there was coffee/tea provision and a fridge had we needed it. The bathroom was generous and equipped with complimentary shampoo/shower gel. There is a hairdryer, plenty of sockets for charging phones etc. Our breakfasts were generous and delicious. The hotel is close to the Cliffs Pavilion, so also the seafront, and Southend itself is a 10 minute wander along the road or seafront.

The seafront apartment is a perfect location for those who want to stay close to the beach. It is very spacious, clean, and beautifully maintained. I could not have asked for a better place to spend my New Year eve, bearing in mind that it was booked on a short notice of 2 hours before we reached there. Yet we were provided with all basic necessities like towel, coffee, milk and a clean tidy apartment. Overall, we would like to thank the host for the wonderful stay and making us feel right at home with a cozy atmosphere.

The location was ideal in a very nice area of Southend. Was very impressed with the high standard of hygene. The room and all areas of the hotel were absolutely spotless. All of the staff that I dealt with were so polite and helpful that it made the whole experience a joy. The food at breakfast and dinner was excellant. Loved the decor in the bar and dining room areas. Would highly recommend this hotel and will certainly return when visiting my family again in Southend.

The service and reception my party of 6 received from Debbi and the team over our 3 night stay was exceptional . Location was fantastic. Hotel was fantastic. But the best of all was the service given to us. Debbi truly went above and beyond to make our stay a memorable one. The friendliness of the hotel and the people of Southend on Sea was truly amazing Cormac ( team of 6)

Large rooms, clean, and well maintained. Great food, great service, exceptionally good breakfast. Best location in Southend On Sea, perfect for a quiet couple weekend. The town doesn't have much to offer for adults, but the hotel makes up for it. The food is exceptionally good, and despite being a busy hotel you can still retreat to a very quiet room. Highly recommended
