Beautiful place, amazing bar with great views out to sea. The Room was super clean and comfy and the water pressure in the shower was phenomenal.
The food served in the Poetic license bar was absolutely delicious, the cakes in Let there be crumbs we to die for and the bar and restaurant staff were super friendly and so helpful. Every member of staff we spoke too was so helpful and looked to enjoy their jobs.
The location of the hotel was super relaxed, we stayed for 3 nights and felt so chilled the whole stay.
Plenty of parking round the back of the hotel.
We'll definitely return in the future. Can't recommend The Roker hotel enough.

We visited Sunderland to attend a Bruce Springsteen concert, Decided to stay the day before as well as the night after, Very mixed thoughts on our stay,The shopping centre was nice and friendly. Going out for tea was another matter! Whilst having a drink before tea in a town centre bar my Daughter was verbally abused by a local man which became problematic. However other venues were much nicer. After the concert we walked through the town and stopped for a drink which was very relaxed. Mowbray park is beautiful and peaceful even at midnight

You need to book well in advance if you want to watch the Black Cats at the stadium of light! There is a nice railway connection to nearby Seaham if you want to visit. You can walk along the Wear through a sculpture park and the city centre is excellent for cheap food and drink.

Sunderland was good, but if you want 4* service at 4* prices don't go to The Grand. Only pub food and you make your own bed and carry out own room service. REALLY NOT ON.
Good point, staff lovely and very helpful

Sunderland is a lovely city with lots of things to see and do. The coast here is beautiful with interesting beaches and walks.
The people we spoke to were welcoming and friendly everywhere we went.
Food was great, reasonable prices and delicious.
Will definitely go back to see more of this lovely part of the country.
The Boars head had everything we needed. Great location with fabulous views of the river, a most welcoming friendly helpful host. Great choice of complementary breakfast choices to help yourself to from a shared kitchen for guests to use. Comfy beds ! Next time we are in Sunderland we will definitely stay here again. The restaurant underneath the Boars head hotel is also worth a visit, friendly knowledgeable staff serve a great choice of delicious cocktails.
This hotel is a great location If you're visiting for the beach or the Stack, it's in walking distance to a number of restaurants and bars. A bit further up the coast are more cafes/bars and Sunderland is a short Uber away. The main reception was very clean. The parking was handy and free.
We always stay here when we are in Sunderland. It's a lovely hotel. Facilities are very good. It's a very short distance from the town and the A1. The staff are lovely and always so helpful. The rooms are clean and warm. The food is very good.
