Boasting views of the garden and the Black Mountains, Tegfan Garden Suite is now self-catering and located in Talgarth, midway between Hay-on-Wye and Brecon and ideal for exploring in and around the... Recently refurbished with a new kitchenette, and well appointed. New bed was extremely comfortable and slept well. The accommodation is situated with a superb view of the hills and mountains, and in peaceful solitude, alongside the owner's property. Helen and John are very welcoming, and want guests to be at ease and enjoy the ambiance.
Talgarth is a good place to stay to explore the Black Mountains. Favourite place = Black Mountains Gliding Club. Note the options for eating out without driving are limited as several places are not open every night.
We loved the restored and working flour mill and the pretty flower displays placed around the town. Nice selection of places to eat. Not so easy to eat out Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday as many places closed, but we managed to overcome that by going a short distance to alternative nearby eateries. High standard of cooking and very friendly staff and locals.
Nice town. A couple nice restaurants, but generally travelled further afield for dinner. Perfect location for exploring black mountains and brecons. 10minutes walk from Granary in to centre of Talgarth.
Clearly people cared about their community, with what appeared to be an active local council. The bee sensitive sponsored flower beds are a feature. Appropriate/suitable places to eat. Clean and tidy. Hay on Wye on market days Thursday not to be missed
The local pub (can't remember the name) wasn't open between Tuesday and Thursday inclusive. This could have been a problem for eating but our landlady put us in the direction of the New Gurkha Chef, a Nepalese restaurant, which was really excellent.
Good location for the Brecon Becons and Hay on Wye at very reasonable prices. Talgarth is a small but scenic village in this area with good public transport links to Brecon, Hay on Wye and Hereford. Lots to explore in the local area and a lovely ambiance. Food readily available and lots of red kites!
Large comfortable rooms and really lovely and helpful hosts!
