I was staying alone to break up a long drive south and this was such a nice surprise. Really gorgeous room with so many nice touches and incredibly comfortable. So much character too. The breakfast was also great and all the staff really friendly. A really cool place to stay. Also, even though it’s a pub with rooms it didn’t feel like that. Everything was hotel quality, spotlessly clean and a lot of effort has gone into the rooms so they feel really special.

Room was well decorated, warm and inviting with a very comfortable bed. Quiet as not in or attached to the pub. I was really only there to sleep for a couple of nights, but it is roomy enough with sofa and side tables, so using it as a base for a longer holiday would be fine. Breakfast menu has several options, all generous. Nice pub, told the food is great for lunch and evenings too. Rural, with nice country views.

General Manager, Jim Lewis went beyond our expectations. After checking in, during a rain storm, he came to our 'accesible' room to make sure we had gotten the wheelchair into the room ok. He even went to the desk to bring us an umbrella! His staff also, Gabs and Louise were very helpful, Gabs assisted helping with the wheelchair also. Great staff!

A little outside Thirst in the quiet countryside, it definitely helped to have a car as we were able to visit the White Horse, Thirsk, and the Yorkshire Dales easily. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable and the food was great.
