Torver is not much more than a T junction but it is a beautiful area and footpaths will take you down to Coniston water and along to Coniston or up into the hills. There are two pubs / restaurants but only The Wilsons / Wilson’s Arms was open when we stayed there and they also operate a small deli shop.
The Wilson arms is quaint very pretty beautiful area stunning views very clean fantastic food and the staff are lovely friendly people especially Christine couldn’t do enough went out of their way to help with any request . Just felt though the ladies toilets downstairs are not very conducive for older people both toilets separated by huge slabs of what appears to be slate and door on one has gap in it no privacy . Otherwise all in all nice place to stay
Only minutes away from Coniston, Torver has all the benefits but without a premium price tag. The pub food is first class ~ a great menu selection at sensible prices. Their breakfast will keep you going until evening dinner!
Lovely scenery in and around Torver. Went for a meal at the Wilsons Arms one night, the staff there were very friendly & welcoming. Food was nice though a little pricey but I think that is the same for all local eateries.
The lake was situated across the road at the bottom of lodge entrance, it was beautiful, took a nice bottle of wine, sat and admired the views. We also went for Sunday lunch at the Manor House In Collin Pit Farm, highly recommended but very narrow country roads to get there!
Torver is 3 miles short of Conniston. If you have no car and want to stay for more that a night you better be good at Scrabble. There are 2 pubs both at different ends of the spectrum, one a great restaurant one a good locals drinking pub. There are no busses at weekend and Conniston is too far to walk along a busy twisting road. Great stopping place as an overnight walking location or maybe 2 or 3 nights. In summary worth a visit on a tour or trek.
