Hotel in Burton upon Trent
This splendid Georgian house sits in 7 acres of peaceful and picturesque gardens. Dating back to 1790, it offers individually designed rooms and traditional fine dining in its elegant restaurant. The staff was lovely! The bed was very comfortable and I'm a bed snob.
Wanted to visit the ruins but they were shut until Easter. I can envisage a problem parking in the village when the ruins are opened. There were a couple of shops in the village including a fascinating antique shop, but not much else. It was a short distance from Calke Abbey which was an interesting visit.
Tutbury Castle is a very interesting place to visit. I was there only one day for the Nine Worlds festival, a Norse festival with very interesting workshops run by qualified teachers. The atmosphere was lovely and the village quaint and charming. I stayed at the Dog and Partridge hotel, which has a really nice historic atmosphere and a good restaurant.
Beautiful village lots of tea shops and a big antiques centre. The castle is worth a visit, it's a steep walk tho. If you like Indian food the Marigold is well worth a visit. Also a good point to visit other local towns.
Lovely quaint village to stay. Nice & quiet & people all very friendly. Nice places to eat ,drink & chat with the locals who are a really nice. Dog & Partridge a lovely place to stay eat & drink. Also a lovely friendly place to drink afew different ales etc is the cask & Pottle.
Everyone at Dog and Partridge were lovely. Evening meal was gorgeous and extremely filling and very reasonably priced. Our nights sleep was very comfortable and the room was oldy worldy with dark wood beams everywhere - absolutele delight to stay there. Our breakfast was included in the price and there was lots of choices and also full English Breakfast if you wanted. Thanks to ALL staff, cooks and cleaners 10/10 Well Done.
I imagine that the village will be more vibrant during the summer as alot of the amenities were closed during our stay in december. In the evening the Dog and Partridge Inn served us excellent food and dtinks at a reasonable price.
Tutbury
Great location convenient for access to Tutbury..and good walking country...very nice welcome from the host. There was good kitchen utensils available and a very comfortable bed...I am happy to recommend this accommodation.
Evening food was excellent. Buffet breakfast could be better. The whole hotel is a little tired.
