Set in Ulverston, 328 feet from Laurel & Hardy Museum, The Sun Inn features free WiFi access . There is an on-site restaurant and bar. Barrow in Furness is 8 miles away. Great value and convenient location - it's noisy at nighttime, which they are very upfront about, so not the place if you want a quiet time, but perfect if you need somewhere central to come back to after a night out

Fish and chip shop in town did lovely food .
We mostly used Ulverston as a transportation hub in order to see places further north. The train and bus system is not extensive for our purposes, but it was certainly adequate. We loved the abundance of restaurants and shopping in town. The restaurants were a variety of cuisines. We tried some Indian cuisine one day and were surprised to find that high quality in what seems like a nice small town. The monument is enjoyable to hike up to. We ended up doing that on a foggy day and a clear day would have been nice to try. We did notice that the streets were reasonably clean.
First time in Ulverston it was a lovely market town with wide range of restaurants and bars. We ate at The Farmers for dinner and breakfast, both excellent and ate at the Mill which again we thoroughly enjoyed. Lots of shops to visit as well for basic groceries to souvenirs. Lovely place.
Compact town centre, with plenty of quality pubs and eateries and a positive vibe. Lots of original properties, plenty to do - the Hoad Monument, Laurel & Hardy museum, old canal running to estuary, and plenty of other walks nearby. Easily accessible by bus and train so no need to drive.
Small town situated in southern part of the Lake District. We found it an ideal place from which to explore the region. It has the lovely small shops and streets that make up many of the small towns in the area but also large supermarkets for all you need.
We love Ulverston. It is perfectly placed for access to the Lake District and the coast. In addition, it’s a great place in its own right with a lovely little town centre (still just about holding its own) and great parks and interesting walks eg up Hoad Hill and along the canal to the sea. It is historic, interesting and has some great events on at The Coro. There is a railway station and you can take a trip across a scenic viaduct to Grange-over-Sands and beyond. Ulverston is a charming little town and worth a visit!
Fantastic location a minutes walk from the centre of Ulverston. Parking very close by. The cottage is very understated from the outside, inside is light and spacious and very clean. Perfect space for a family of 4. Downstairs is a bedroom and bathroom, upstairs the kitchen, living/dining space and further double bedroom. It was cold when we first arrived but the heating is very efficient and soon warmed up the space. Hand sanitizer as you walk through the front door and the track and trace sheet is reassuring covid touch too.
Return visitor to Beech Cottage. Scales is a lovely village close to the Cumbrian coast and with easy access to the Lakes. You have all the amenities of Ulverston and Barrow-in-Furness nearby, as long as you have a car which we did.. Beech cottage has all you need in a home away from home. It’s comfortable and suited us as 3 adults with one small dog. I will return again as I think it’s a great value staycation in a lovely location.
Lovely property conveniently situated for the Lake District national park. The house was super clean & comfortable for our family of 5 and small dog. Bedrooms were gorgeous, modern kitchen and spacious living room. Also, the owner was very helpful and made several excellent recommendations for walks, restaurants etc. Highly recommended.
Location was excellent - 1 minute fromm the town centre and quiet. Facilities were superb - very much a home-from-home and fully equipped. All the essentials were also in place (dishwasher tabs, washing up liquid etc) so I hope my contribution of laundry liquid (I had muddy cycling kit to deal with) added to the stoocks :)
Ulverston was really close, store 2min away by car. Sea side, tiny zoo, aquarium. Everything was less than 10miles away! Great location. Very quiet place. Clean, tidy. Hosts were great.
The location was central for Ulverston’s downtown location. The only problem was having to park on another street, but this is not an issue that the owners can resolve.
Brilliant for 2 couples a bathroom each and toilet downstairs everything you could need parking and very close to town centre but quiet ,we will stay again .
Great location, lovely apartment with everything we needed for a very comfortable stay. We’d definitely stay here again if we return to the Lake District.
Within the town centre but quiet at night. Lovely large comfortable bed. Everything you need. Didn't have time to use TV. WiFi good
Breakfast was tasty and substantial. The location was perfect for us arriving by train and starting our hike on the Cumbria Way.
Clean, quiet, comfortable. Well placed for the town centre and convenient parking
