Wark is a small village, people are very friendly, it has a pub, a shop, a coffee shop and a hotel, it is quite rural with plenty of walking opportunities. Lovely hotel with an observatory! We ate at the hotel and the food was very good and very reasonable ( venison bourginion with mash and veg £17.90). The wine list was very good. Staff were friendly, and multi tasked well together, there was a lovely fruit plate in the room, along with biscuits, tea, coffee etc. We enjoyed a nicely presented evening meal, and a taster of chef's cauliflower soup, while we waited for our evening meal. The breakfast was multi choice, not either or but a case of just tell us what you want. So real good value for money. It had everything we needed including a fully equipped kitchen, tea/coffee, condiments and a lovely touch by the owners to provide milk, fruit and biscuits. The location was perfect! The village of Wark has a hotel/restaurant, pub, shop and cafe. It’s a short drive to places of interest. Great location for the National Park and Hadrians Wall and only an hour from the coast. Wark, though only small also had good facilities - general store, pubs and ev charging point which was a bonus.
