The hotel is just off junction 64 of the A1(M), less than 12 miles from Newcastle, Sunderland and Durham. It has free parking, a restaurant, a lounge bar and air-conditioned rooms. Our request for extra bed had not reached them. All the other hotels were full due to the ICC World Cup match 2019. We were fortunate to get a family room. Staff was very courteous and supported us very well. Dinner & breakfast is also good with a variety of options .
Set in Washington in the Tyne and Wear region, Washington's Hidden Gem Amethyst 3 Bedroom House features a terrace. Comfortable stay, definitely not the Ritz!; Plenty of towels and pillows. a little country smell from the allotment opposite! A nice touch with the complementary toothbrushes and toothpaste. Plenty of bottled water, OJ, milk, bread, butter, jam and cereal selection for breakfast. Perfect for a night stopover on the way to Aberdeen
Ten miles from Newcastle, The Bowes Incline Hotel offers rooms with attached bathroom and a 100-seat restaurant. Rooms are well equipped with TV, free Wi-Fi and coffee and tea-making facilities. The food was amazing. The staff were lovely. The beds very comfortable and clean. Highly recommended
Opposite the Angel of the North statue, The Angel View Hotel is just 10 minutes’ drive from Newcastle center. Beautiful space and surroundings, wonderful and helpful staff who made sure that I was happy. The room is warm and super cozy. Loved this place! Will definitely come back.
We mainly travelled to see family. We visited Beamish Museum which is excellent. Newcastle is within easy reach and the hotel is easy to find with plenty of on site parking. We mainly eat when we are out and about but always start with a good breakfast at the hotel. Nothing to avoid the hotel suits perfectly.
The room was quiet, had everything you would need however very unclean. Coffee making was hidden so did not know that it was available until on leaving. Tv did not work very poor signal. Would not book this particular type of room again
Good location, very friendly and helpful staff and very clear instructions re covid precautions and practices. Food was tasty. Room looked tired with not much storage space for luggage. Carpet felt sticky underfoot
From start to finish the staff were polite and helpful. The take away breakfast was great, I didn’t have time to sit in and eat. The bistro was also excellent for the evenings with a good selection of food. Reasonable prices and friendly staff If you like golf this is a great place Driving range, practice areas and a 9hole par 3 course and an 18hole champions course I couldn’t fault it
As my daughter lives in Washington, we stay at this holiday inn 2-3 times a year and it's always been very good, unfortunately this time it wasn't as good. I thought in my message prior to our last stay I wouldn't have to request definitely a double bed and definitely newr the lift, I gave the reasons why. While we had the double bed, the room could not have been much furhter away from the lift. When we went to bed, one of my pillows was not firm as I like but lumpy, the othere was ok but a bit soft. The matress was awful and I hardly slept . I asked for a poached egg at breakfast, it was partly raw and a mess. Very dissapointing.
Washington is very close the Beamish Living Museum, in fact its only about 15 minutes from the hotel by car. So if you are staying at Washington a few days and have the time, get an annual ticket for Beamish, that was you have more time to look around because there is too much to see in just one day. Personally I chose to go to the local Supermarket for food. I have a very nervous dog who was mistreated and hates to be left in the car, so I just bought what I wanted and bought fresh baked rolls daily. You can buy a good variety of meals nowadays that you just add boiling water to, alternatively, there is always a chippy or Chinese etc locally. In fact I know that I could have ordered a meal in the hotels restaurant and had that in my room but because I have some unusual food allergies, such as Vanilla, it would just have caused a lot of additional hassle for the catering staff.
