I find Weymouth very friendly and the walks along the Sea front great, best time of day first thing in the morning, I did see the children on the Donkeys this brought back childhood memories. I went into the Wellington and had a great roast meal there with a lovely pint. Now another thing which I found was there fish and chips, the batter is light and crispy. I like walking around the shopping area always something of interest to find and some time your find musical entertainment along the main street. The local people are very friendly and helpful.
I have been to Weymouth several times but never taken time to explore properly. It's a proper old style British seaside town that hasn't been ruined by over commercialism. The shopping centre has character and charm and isn't the 'copy and paste' sameness that most town centres have become. The harbour area is fascinating and the walk up to and around the park above is excellent. The bus service is very good, particularly to Portland, which is great for a bus pass wielding ol' codger like me.
A visit to the Pavillion Theatre was excellent value for money. We took a twelve mile walk along the coast from Weymouth to Chesil beach which I would recommend if you are reasonably fit. Weymouth on a Saturday night wasn't great in the town but having said that it is like a lot of towns that offer cheap alcohol. Eating out on a Saturday night after 9 pm proved impossible but it is January so obviously there were quite a few places closed which is understandable. It was a really lovely getaway though and would recommend for a two night break.
We loved the great beach and walks with the dogs. Weymouth has lots to see and do. We can recommend eating at The Ship (dog friendly) and The Chapelry for fish and chips. We stayed at The Redcliff Hotel which is in a cul de sac so no noise from passing traffic, the owners are warm, kind and friendly people. We will definitely return in the near future
I discovered The Nothe Garden on the other side of the harbour. Beautiful waterside cottages and a lovely walk with views across to Portland. I came in January, but could see that the beach with its calm water and smooth sand is very safe for young children. Great shops too, and a railway station easy to walk to from the sea front.
Visited the Riviera hotel for a short break and to use the sauna/steam facilities. Weather was cold but bright so went into Weymouth to have a walk about. Lovely harbour area, lots of places to eat, take coffee and to watch whats going on. Would have liked to have spent more time there as it had such a lovely feel.
The hotel is situated right on the promenade of Weymouth, on the southern coast ( Jurassic coast) of the UK. Very well maintained, with clean rooms along with all the amenities. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful.. the check in took just 3 minutes. They even looked after our luggage after I checked out the next day so that we could roam around the local area. Great place to stay, will definitely recommend this hotel!
Weymouth
The breakfast was superb with both cold options and hot made-to -order meals. Most patrons had both! Lovely service. Comfy bed and nice linens. It seemed that there was no hot water in the evenings but lots in the mornings, so perhaps it was an "on demand" system. Very good location and we found some excellent places to eat. Close to train and bus. Very friendly. Good value!

The Roundhouse was spectacular. It is located right on the beach and I had an incredible view. Every morning the breakfast was delivered fresh to my door in a basket that contained homemade jams/jelly. The staff was very accommodating and gave great recommendations for places to see nearby. I would definitely stay here again.
