Hotel in Wick
Nestled in the heart of the picturesque town of Wick and overlooking Wick River, The family-run Norseman Hotel features its own private garden. It offers an on-site car park and free Wi-Fi. I was a solo cycle-tourist. Reception locked my bike up in the garage, reserved me a table, and quickly got me to my room and a hot bath! Breakfast staff were friendly and helped me get away on time and early the nest day. Thanks!
Hotel in Wick
In Wick, in the beautiful area of Caithness in the Northern Highlands, Mackays offers award-winning service and fine food in No1 Bistro, as well as free Wi-Fi and parking. The reception staff were excellent and very helpful and pleasant. The room and bath were nice but a bit small. We had a classic double room but there were larger rooms available. The restaurant had excellent food and good service. The selection and service in the bar were great.
Wick
Bank Guest House is located 20 minutes’ drive from John O’Groats, offering rooms with en suite private shower rooms and free Wi-Fi, less than 10 minutes’ walk from Wick Rail Station. Our room on the top floor overlooking the river was really pretty! Very clean and comfortable. Loved our stay. Breakfast was good and host Angela was very helpful and efficient.
Wick
This 19th Century property was previously home to the harbor masters of Pulteney, and has now been converted into bed and breakfast accommodations in the heart of Wick. The customer service was exceptional and I loved the extra touch of guiding us through our stay and the amenities in the room.

Thrumster House is set in 20 acres of gardens and woodland within 10 minutes’ drive of Wick and less than 2 miles from the sea. Wow! Thrumster house is an amazing old house - full of history. Islay and Catherine are fascinating to listen to. We had a wonderful stay, a nice walk round the grounds (history there too) and a really comfy olde world room which was like stepping back in time, plus a wonderful breakfast in a beautiful dining room. Thank you.
If your in this area you definitely need to go see Duncansby Lighthouse, it's breathtakingly beautiful. We also went to the ruins of Sinclair Gringoe which sits upon a cliff, it was a blustery day which added to the mystique of the ruins, well worth the visit. We attempted to visit the ruins of Keiss Castle but it's not easily assessible as there's "private property" signs everywhere. Our main reason for picking this area was it's proximity to Gill's Bay Terminal, we took the 1 hour ferry ride over to Orkney, which by the way is not to be missed.
It is a lovely place to stopover or if you need accommodation to do a bit sightseeing around the area. There was not a great deal in Wick itself. The harbour is nice area. The house we stayed in was excellent as was right on the harbour. Very recommended.
Wick is not a great place to stay, the high st, well lack of it was unimpressive. Run down. the Shops outside of the town were excellent. It was ideal for us as it was perfect for visiting the North of Scotland
It is a nice place to stop and recover if you are doing the NC500 route. There are some nearby places to visit. But a day should do. Other than that there is not much to do around there. It might feel a step down especially if you start your NC500 from the west and head east. However, if you have a long drive to get to Inverness, Wick is a good place to stop for the night (2 hours to Inverness)
The town itself isn't great but there are plenty of attractions around and about that make Wick an ideal base to start from. There's an abundance of old castles, cliff top walking, sandy beaches, lighthouses, day trip ferries to Orkney and it's an ideal location for Twitchers (apparently). There's good Indian & Italian restaurants along the main street and loads of take-aways to cater for all tastes. I'd recommend booking a table in advance though, rather than turning up and expecting to be seated.
We were on a mission to see the furthest extremities of the country, and therefore John O'Groats. Not knowing how our journey would progress all our accommodation bookings were last minute, and Rona's house was ideal. It was perfectly situated, perfectly presented and we were perfectly looked after. Faultless. We didn't explore all of Wick, so are unable to be authoritative about it, but the surrounding countryside, coast and scenery are all well worth a visit. We enjoyed every minute and every mile.
Wick
Fantastic location! Lydia directed us to Castle of old Wick which was beautiful and a great morning walk! The room was very comfortable, great en suite, everything was clean and neatly placed. Nice varied breakfast menu with great local touches. Delicious breakfasts with generous portions! Both Lydia and Graeme were very warm, welcoming and helpful (even with poor Graeme’s newly broken hand!) Very helpful welcome pack too which was a nice touch! We’ll definitely be back and recommending friends!
Wick
Everything was perfect. We had last-minute dinner at the hotel and it was outstanding. The owners have thought of everything to provide comfort for guests. From the room, to the dining area, to food and breakfast, including friendly touring advice -- it was outstanding. The location is convenient too for NC500 route. It's barely off of the main road (but far enough to be completely quiet) and would be a perfect launch pad for the ferries from Gills Bay to Orkney Isle.
The Steamboat is in an amazing location with views across Wick Harbour. The flat is spacious but cosy and was immaculate when we arrived. It has everything you would need for a stay on the North East Coast. Parking was right outside the door. The owners provided us with all the information we needed to make our stay enjoyable. I would recommend The Steamboat to anyone looking for a base for touring the North/North-East Coast.
Wick
Good and clear communication upfront with instructions. The apartment was enormous with 3 bedrooms, a very nice living room with comfortable couches and a large kitchen with round dining table. We found all the utensils we needed, although we did not cook. The apartment is very nicely situated in Wick within walking distance of some restaurants in the harbour and Old Pulteney distillery.
Everything about this property was perfect. It's a beautiful house which is beautifully decorated, Netflix at your fingertips and a fully stocked kitchen which makes it feel like home immediately. My friend and I stayed there the final night of our trip to Scotland and it was the perfect decision. I would recommend this in a heartbeat.
It’s not the Ritz but it’s comfortable and a good location stop off for NC500. The host was spot on works really hard and does a great breakfast and brings it to the room. Wick itself was not what I expected nothing much around but try the Chippy near the hotel I had a Scotch Pie Supper and Haggis really unhealthy but tasty 😋
Wick
If you're wanting to stay in a self catering property in Wick this property can be recommended. It is set up for couples and the facilities and location are ideal. The walk into Wick is about ten minutes along the river and through a public park.
Wick
The owners were very warm and welcoming on short notice after my unfortunate previous experience! The Guest House was warm and beautiful and very clean! Breakfasts were delicious! Host Julie gave me a ride to my next lace and offered a tour of Wick!
Great location in the town centre near the river with a car park. A bit dated but clean and tidy, good staff, breakfast was lovely. Had a good nights sleep. Easy access to NC500 route, John o groats and the rest of the north of Scotland
Stewart’s house is in a great street in Wick where you can walk to town and along the coast walk. We had a room on the top floor which was clean and decorated to a high standard with a huge en-suite Bathroom. Breakfast was excellent

Very welcoming manager. The hotel was in a good location close to the centre of Wick. Our room was spacious and we were very comfortable. Car parking was easy with lots of free spaces opposite the hotel.
Amazing apartment, absolutely spotless. Host very helpful and responded very quickly to any queries. The nicest place we have stayed whilst travelling around Scotland. Would highly recommend.
