The Hillcrest Hotel is located close to Chester, Manchester and within easy reach of Liverpool and Liverpool Airport. Our modern hotel is in a rural setting with easy access to the M6, M57 and M62. The breakfast was lovely, freshly cooked and lots of choice. The staff could not have been nicer. The rooms were nice and facilities very good. Bar and restaurant menu very good and food was delicious.
Palm House is located in Widnes and offers a garden and barbecue facilities. The property is 13 miles from Chester. My second weekend stay and it was a good as the first. John is friendly and welcoming and showed me, making sure I was comfortable with the apartment. A welcome parcel of milk, breakfast cereal, crumpets and butter was left in the kitchen along with tea and coffee. The place is clean and comfortable and I'd recommend a stay there if you need a place to stay that is quiet and feels like a home from home
Chota Gher Apartment is located in Widnes. The accommodation is 12 miles from Chester, and guests benefit from private parking available on site and free WiFi. The place was clean, really clean, with a lot of amenities/facilities. The host was super friendly. The location is good, not far from Liverpool but in a calm rural region.
The Campanile Hotel Runcorn is located in Runcorn town center, 394 feet from Runcorn Railway Station and 7 minutes’ drive from the M56 motorway. Everything. Second time we have stayed here and it did everything we needed for our stay! Cheap, free (strong) wifi and easy parking.
Widnes is not a tourist destination. Most visitors are there for business or to visit family/friends. There are some interesting museums in Widnes/Runcorn and it is a good jumping-off point for locations in Cheshire, Liverpool and North Wales.
Widnes is not a holiday resort, it’s a place to go on business, to break up a longer journey or visit family, which was the reason for my visit. We did eat in the hotel restaurant; it was fine although service a little slow on our first night. Traveling around Widnes can be tricky if you don’t know where your going (lots of road changes/development). If for any reason you plan to cross the river Mersey on the new Mersey Flow Bridge you need to pay up front online. Type in ‘ ‘MERSEY FLOW’ There are some nice walks and great views of the bridges at West Bank area.
Receptionist was very rode bartender was closing down bar at 9.30 on a Saturday night, rooms were not that clean . Bed was very comfy, breakfast was just ok buffet style and was not that hot and looked like it had been standing out for a while 🙁
I used to live in Runcorn and now find that all the road systems are really different. I appreciate where the Everglades is as coming down from Scotland can be really complicated and is central to where I needed to be. The new road systems in Widnes and Runcorn are really different and quite scary, especially when you don't know where you are going! Perhaps a map might help? Everyone has sat navs but if you don't know where you're going it doesn't help. Just a suggestion as us older people like maps. Pesto was a great restaurant, a bit complicated but the food was lovely. Norton Priory in Runcorn, well worth a visit, lovely place. We did a Creperie in Prestatyn High Street, lovely, really enjoyed it, but huge portions so beware. So different from when I lived down here!
Very nice hotel surroundings. Cleanliness second to none. Room facilities excellent breakfast served very early was a bonus as we had a funeral that was early Very near to our relatives home. Peaceful and quiet. We had had a tiring journey from Lincoln with endless road works and hold ups and it was so nice to sink into a large bath and not have to have only a shower in the room
I would recommend it as its 20 minutes from Liverpool city centre but peacefull away from the bustle of the city. The photographs i have added are of how people in the area make you smile as they are so friendly and helpfull.
John and Carole have put a lot of thought and effort into this little gem. Honestly there's nothing they didn't think about. Beats staying in a 5 star hotel by miles yet very much budget cost. The place is immaculate with very high end modcons in the kitchen a very comfortable bed with luxury bedding. It's quite literally home from home. John and Carole even provide you with basics such as breakfast, toiletries and full laundry facilities.
A lovely little retreat close to Liverpool. I went with my husband & two children 13 & 7. The place was spotlessly clean. Lots of added extras for breakfast & this place really does have everything you need even down to hairspray! I would definately recommend & would stay again if we visit this area again. Thank you for a lovely comfortable stay :-)
The hotel was the perfect location for us and is set back from the road (so no noise from cars). All staff I interacted with were very friendly! Given that we stayed the weekend of a major local festival the price was reasonable, and our room was huge!
Very friendly staff. Quiet location at the back of the hotel. Room service prompt and the food was delicious.
