A lovely small capital city , very easy to visit in a day or 2. Beautiful scenery and lovely buildings by the Old Harbour . I would recommend hiring electric bikes , then you can cover the whole city in a day . A boat trip up the fjord to see the abandoned villages and icebergs is great . Nuuk Water Taxis helped us with this . There are some good cafes and we particularly liked Mary's Kitchen . Nuuk is a great place to visit, and use as a stepping stone to other places. On a Friday night you can catch a boat ( the Saffaq Ittuq) up to Illulisat .. a fantastic trip .
It's a small place (although large by Greenlandic standards) and not many people go there. But it's modern and quite well appointed with a reasonable selection of eateries, pubs and other facilities. There's probably not a huge amount to see in the town itself, so you'll need to take organised excursions (no roads outside of the town!) or use it as a starting point for a wider tour. The Greenland Museum is small but surprisingly good and worth a visit.
It’s an unexpected convenient city. There are shops and supermarkets. Highly recommend to walk near the sea from cultural centre. The view is perfect. The restaurants are not very special but the food inside the supermarket is good. It is not bad to cook if it’s possible. If the weather is good, it’s very nice to walk through the city.
It is a unique place in the world. But in the winter it's freezing cold- bring the right kind of clothing, including boots that grip- not everyone shovels as well as they could, or if they do, the wind blows the snow around a lot. If you are prepared, you will enjoy it. There are limited activities to do in the winter, so it won't be a long stay. It is very informal and you need to be self reliant.
