FOR THE SOUTH BANK OF GAMBIA 🇬🇲 CAPE POINT IS A GREAT LOCATION WITH MOST OTHER ATTRACTIONS CLOSE BY THAT CAN BE REACHED BY BICYCLE OR PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION. IF YOU HAVE NEVER BEEN TO THE SMILING COAST OF THE GAMBIA THEN YOU ARE REALLY MISSING OUT. TRY TO MAKE A RESERVATION SOON TO DISCOVER AND EXPERIENCE IT YOURSELF. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED !!
Freddy’s bistro on Observer Rd is amazing. It’s tucked away behind a tree near & on the same side as the petrol station You can get great massages from an experienced masseur in a shack between the African village hotel and the supermarket. He gets booked up.
I really like Bakau. This was my second time. The first time I was here, I stayed for two months and used it as my hub to explore Gambia. I have a special liking for the area. There’s great local food, some markets for tourist items, etc. The restaurants are a bit pricey by West Africa standards, but we tend to eat at the local places. There’s a lot of “Bumsters” around, but they’re still friendly and you can just pass them by if you wish. The beaches here are clean and nice, sandy beaches.
Bakau is very busy but not to busy few shops and bars around beach are not as good as other places as it's a working beach and it's where the fish market is so lots going on not really a place for sunbathing. The crocodile pool is in walking distance and worth a visit and also the monkey park is a short taxi drive away and also well worth a visit, food and beer are not to expensive and very good
Calypso Beach Bar and restaurant is great - maybe more expensive than the others nearby but the set up is beautiful - afternoon tea watching the crocodiles being fed, then watching the resident monkeys playing! Good menu - can recommend the Caesar salad
Fantastic place to stay in Gambia, locals are so friendly, nice walk to cape point for excellent beach and restaurants. Visit the school - an eye opener. Lovely local craft stalls for nice gifts. Interesting fish market and amazing views from the tower in the disused hotel ( ask your guide!) Definitely get a local guide - they are fantastic and so helpful, they can’t do enough for you! Friends bar is our favourite for food, drink and music, but there are many others. Mix with the locals, they are the loveliest people.
