We absolutely loved our stay. The room was comfortable, decorated perfectly, everything in working order, had everything we needed. The location is perfect, just a 5 minute walk to the center of town and restaurants. We loved sitting out on the porch enjoying the view. The space allowed us privacy while still offering a chance to speak to your neighbors. The host was super helpful in familiarizing us with the area, with services and with recommendations. Definitely recommend!!!

Astypalaia town, or Chora, is a true gem of the Aegean.
Astypalaia town, or Chora, is a true gem of the Aegean. Perched on a hillside, it offers stunning panoramic views of the sparkling sea, the picturesque harbor, and the majestic Venetian castle that crowns the town. The town’s white-washed houses, narrow streets, and vibrant bougainvillea create a magical, traditional Greek island atmosphere that is both peaceful and captivating.
Visitors will find the iconic windmills just a short walk from the town center, and there’s a wonderful selection of tavernas, cafés, and shops to explore, where you can enjoy authentic local cuisine and hospitality. Whether you're looking to relax and soak up the island's natural beauty, wander the charming streets, or delve into its rich history, Astypalaia town has something for everyone. It’s the perfect blend of culture, relaxation, and scenic beauty, making it an unforgettable destination for all who visit.

Another cute Greek island.
Another cute Greek island. I have been to 15+ Greek islands over 50 times in total. It is similar to many other Greek islands. Small, cute. The castle and the old town looks really lovely. We went in mid-August. Although the island had probably around 5000 visitors, because there are few restaurants and options, all places were packed. Most of my Greek friends consider Astypalaia as the best Greek island, however in my view it's fine, cute, but I wouldn't say it's more beautiful than many other Greek islands.

The Chora looks great and picturesque, especially from distance. Nice walk to the castle and great to walk in the small narrow streets.
Very few shops with art, local products/local art, or galleries though in the small streets. Instead there are mostly restaurants.
Most shops/restaurants are set around the area of the windmills which although nice, do not have real view (although if you walk to the castle you get a breathtaking view, but not while seated).
Difficult to park in busy times

I've traveled to many islands in Greece.
I've traveled to many islands in Greece. Asytpalaia is the friendliest andprettiest of them all. The town beach is clean, the other beaches like jewels. Food is generally very good and fresh.
Everything is in walking distance, some steep steps involved but you can't have the hypnotic beauty and tranquility here without a little gentle pain.
The town and streets are spotless and the numerous cats cute and well looked after by the people.
Local grocers on the port have just about everything you need and if you can possibly tire of the food at Ageri in Hora or Astropolis in Livadi theres a great Pizza and pasta place right down on the port.

Not sure I want to encourage more people to visit, as this island of less than 2,000 inhabitants is indeed a hidden gem! We were charmed and delighted by this little island as a whole, and in Chora I was pleasantly surprised to find wonderful, chic boutiques, an abundance of phenomenal tavernas, exceptional restaurants (Akti, Cucina), well balanced cocktail bars and a lively atmosphere, as well as some of the best baclava I've ever. It's not for the faint of heart as there are a lot of stairs and hills to climb to get to the castle and the port.
The initiative to get the island fully electric is also commended, Astybus was a fantastic alternative to hiring a car and we used it almost every day - there are several pick up points in Chora, which makes it a great base to explore.
We'll definitely be back!

The best thing about this room was the view from the balcony. The room was quite large, and included a mini kitchen and wardrobe. The room was the perfect distance from chora without too much uphill climbing. The key was in the door when we arrived and our host was quite responsive. As it turned out, unbeknownst to us, our boat cruise and car rental came through the same company that managed the room. They were beyond helpful when the cruise was postponed due to weather, helped with short distance rides, and all kinds of helpful information.
The room was airy, very clean, well furnished, and if you are lucky to get the little corner one, the view on the whole town is the best-breathtaking!
The traditional house structure has a lot of charm. Eleni bakes her famous treats for you to find in your room almost every day, and at the arrival we had a complimentary bottle of wine, a heart warming gesture which was most appreciated and which was perfect to be enjoyed on the balcony. The daily cleaning and refurbishing of the room was impeccable.
The location was brilliant, the apartment was perfect, the host was wonderful, very helpful and friendly. And it was the only apartment on our travels to 4 greek islands staying in booking.com apartments that had a washing machine, amazing and totally appreciated after 2 weeks of travelling and lots of dirty washing to do !. I totally recommend everyone to stay here. Astypalea, is the real thing, an amazing greek island hidden from the normal travel plans but is beautiful and authentic.
Perfect location, 10-15 mins walk to the town and the castle via beautiful small streets. The staff is outstanding, very professional, organized, polite and welcoming, we were really happy to meet them and interact with them. The views are stunning and definitely we will remember them for long time. Good quality coffee machine in the room with capsules which is not very common in Greek islands. Amazing, tailored breakfast - loved the zero waste philosophy and eco-friendliness of the hotel.
Lovely place!
Frosso has done an amazing job! Her studio is beautiful and classy. I had everything I needed !
No words! I thank her for the wine, water Cheese, cleaning!!!
