Facing the beachfront in Agia Roumeli, Tarra has a restaurant and a bar. There's a sun terrace and guests can use free WiFi and free private parking. At the guesthouse, the rooms have a closet. I have to admit that the Tarra crew with the boss are absolutely wonderfull people - their service is an absolute top. We had a great time in the restaurant which I higlhy recommend. The food is fresh and made from local ingredients, and the view from terrace is amazing. When it comes to the rooms - they are simple, but provided with all necessary facilities. Thank you for a great stay!
Located 197 feet from the beach of Agia Roumeli, the quietly located Artemis Studios offers split-level, self-catering accommodations with side sea view towards west, garden or mountain views from its... Artemis is budget accommodation but has the comfort and convenience of luxury accommodation. The studio apartments are really cute with their little kitchens and mezzanine bedrooms. I was able to self-cater and have complete independence. The location is very close to the beach and restaurants. It was easy to find as I just went to Artemis restaurant and they took me there.
Located right on the beach of Agia Roumeli, the family-run Gigilos Hotel offers rooms with a private balcony overlooking the Libyan Sea. It has a seaside restaurant-café and sunbeds on the beach. Hospitable friendly staff, services above the standard in the hotel and the restaurant Gigilos! Picturesque countryside.
Calypso Hotel is located just 66 feet from the beach, in Agia Roumeli village. It features rooms with air conditioning and a furnished balcony with Libyan Sea views. Great location, and fantastic family run hotel. Very helpful, friendly and always smiling. Our 2nd visit here and we will be back.
Family owned and run, Paralia Rooms are located by the beach of Agia Roumeli, only 66 feet from the seafront. Very nice place, with nice views and very nice owner and staff. The perfect location to go to the Samaria Gorge. To stay here is like be with family.
Located in Agia Roumeli, Giannis Rooms has a garden. There's a terrace and guests can use free WiFi and free private parking. Giannis is really great host, very friendly and helpful. Rooms are very clean and air condition clean as well. And you have supermarket downstairs. I highly recommend
Located in Agia Roumeli in the Crete region, Zorbas Studios features accommodations right next to the sea. Free WiFi is provided. We could not have wished for anything more. Excellent room (No 4) with sea view which was clean and well equipped to make drink and snacks. Our host was extremely friendly and helpful and we would definitely stay again.
The beach has black sand, so is too hot to sit on or walk on, and the water is not always clean, depending on the wind direction. Agia Roumeli serves more as an exit or entrance point to Samaria Gorge, which means that most tourists are "one-time" visitors. So related services are overpriced and of poor quality. Which is a pity, because it is a very nice village, that could be worth staying a couple more days.
Samaria Gorge is outstanding as usual, even in late October. It is worthwhile to hike from Agia Roumeli to Agios Pavlos and back. The most beautiful path in Chania, in Crete, in Greece, in Europe, in the world. Friendly people everywhere and amazing sea after the gorge I didnt like I paid for mini bus from Samaria exit to the Agia Roumeli town and there was no receipt. If this business is public, they should include the cost to the Samaria ticket, if is private they should give receipt. People should not feed Kri Kri wild goats.
Great peace with good restaurants and great service. Clean streets well organised village..but still realCretan atmosphere Good for walkers and those also who want some peace with ssshhing of light waves on the shore alongside the occasional ringing of goat bells on the hillside while reading. Shortferry rides to other ports for more walks and excursions if you wish. A great place to stay after completing the Samaria Gorge!
If you are looking for a relaxing holiday with breathtaking nature, quiet beaches, beautiful sea and hospitable people, Agia Roumeli is the right place. It only gets busy when tourists are coming down from Samaria and get the boat, but for the rest of the day, it's the most peaceful place.
Worth staying overnight, Ag R is lovely and quiet after the main crowd of walkers has headed off on boats. We didn't try the beaches as there are better ones along the coast. Artemis Restaurant did us a great fish supper - a lot of the others look very fast-foody.
Agia Roumeli is the perfect place to hide from the rest of the world and enjoy nature! First off, the major downside is that there is not a lot to do in Agia Roumeli. The village consists of several restaurants and two supermarkets, that all also rent rooms. That's it. Getting there can also be a pain, as there's only a few ferries a day that will take you to and from Agia Roumeli. The alternative is walking Europe's longest gorge. If you're flying at Chania airport, know that it will take you an entire day to get to Agia Roumeli. However, it is situated beautifully at the exit of the Samaria Gorge. The village has lovely beaches, and friendly locals. The restaurants serve delicious meals for low prices, and you're guaranteed to have lovely views of mountains, beaches and sunrises and sunsets. A visit is best combined with trips and stays at Sfakia, Loutro and Sougia, or other parts of Crete. If you expect to be entertained, you will be sorely disappointed. However, if you love nature and need to relax, unwind and seclude yourself from the rest of the world, there is no place as lovely as Agia Roumeli to do just that.
Great location and staff. We stayed here after hiking Samaria. Rooms are modest and simple and typical of small village accommodations. Very clean. The included breakfast in the morning was some of the best I’ve had in Greece! The Gigilos restaurant was across the road and along the ocean - a perfect spot for supper and amazing food! The octopus was fresh caught and amazing value. The staff even gave us a checkout gift of a small jar of local honey! Would stay here again!
This was a great hotel as one of many that are in front of the sea in Ag. Roumeli. Don't expect great luxuries or special features in the room, but if all you re looking for is a nice, clean place, with warm water, comfy bed and good people attending then you re on the right place. Also has a nice restaurant downstairs that we visited for breakfast and quality was great :)
The host was very nice and happy to help. No problem with check in or check out. There was fridge and kettle in the room. Also AC worked really well. The host let us check out a few hours later as we had to wait for the ferry. Also they have a nice restaurant -Tarra - by the see side with the view on the harbour where you can have a drink or somthing to eat before your ferry.
A great, simply fitted out room with balcony, right behind the beach. A delicious breakfast in the hotel’s restaurant was included in the cost. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It is possible to rent a kayak from the bar on the beach, a little expensive but very much worth it to get to the beautiful, & very quiet beaches nearby (Fournoti, Domata etc)
Amazing impromptu stay at Pachnes. Michales was very accommodating, always asking if we were OK and checking we had everything we needed, he did this in a really genuine manner as well. When we checked out in the morning he gave us a lovely Greek breakfast at the brilliant price of 5 euros pp! We will definitely be staying again when we are next in agia roumeli!
The hotel was amazing. Clean, comfortable. But what made our stay fantastic was the host. Nikos! He was such a lovely person, he made us feel at home. The food in the hotel’s tavern is amazing. This is definetely the place to stay in Agia Roumeli
Apart from being a great landlord, Mr. Tzatzimakis is an excellent cook as well so his restaurant Samaria, just round the corner, should be visited. Combining Agia Roumeli with the Samaria gorge in one day is a 1st-class experience.
The location is spectacular.......one of the best of my trip to Crete.......and you have your own beach!.......breathtaking views!.....it is a ten minute walk into the small village if you want a choice of restaurants.........
This is a family-owned hotel. They are always very friendly and accommodating. This was our second stay and they did not disappoint!
