Facing the beachfront in Agia Roumeli, Tarra has a restaurant and a bar. There's a sun terrace and guests can use free WiFi and free private parking. At the guesthouse, the rooms have a closet. I was told by many people not to stay over night after the gorge hike, but I think they were WRONG! I very much enjoyed my leisurely afternoon of swimming, eating, and resting in my seaside hotel after the long hike. It was very relaxing. It was one of the best decisions on made on this trip! I didn’t want to have to stress about getting on the ferry, then a few hours in the bus, trekking again back to a hotel before making it into a shower and relaxing. If your okay with basic accommodations (sea side!)... I highly recommend booking at night here! I loved it. It was perfect!
Located right on the beach of Agia Roumeli, the family-run Gigilos Hotel offers rooms with a private balcony overlooking the Libyan Sea. It has a seaside restaurant-café and sunbeds on the beach. Hospitable friendly staff, services above the standard in the hotel and the restaurant Gigilos! Picturesque countryside.
Calypso Hotel is located just 66 feet from the beach, in Agia Roumeli village. It features rooms with air conditioning and a furnished balcony with Libyan Sea views. This is a family-owned hotel. They are always very friendly and accommodating. This was our second stay and they did not disappoint!
Back-dropped by breathtaking Cretan mountains, the family-run Faragi enjoys a unique location, at the peaceful seaside village of Agia Roumeli, at the end of the famous Samaria Gorge. Sea-view unit with balcony was fabulous. Close to everything in Roumeli.
Located in Agia Roumeli, Giannis Rooms has a garden. There's a terrace and guests can use free WiFi and free private parking. Giannis was really friendly and kind. He was there to suggest us good places for food and to answer all our questions. We definitely recommend him because of his kindness and his hospitality. ps. worth to try his honey 😉
Located in Agia Roumeli in the Crete region, Zorbas Studios features accommodations right next to the sea. Free WiFi is provided. We could not have wished for anything more. Excellent room (No 4) with sea view which was clean and well equipped to make drink and snacks. Our host was extremely friendly and helpful and we would definitely stay again.
The cleanest most peaceful beache I've experienced, as the only way to reach the village is by boat from Chora Sfakia, Loutro or Sougia ( or a hike down from Samaria gorge) it really does have a special tranquility about it. I would recommend staying at Samaria hotel.
A wonderful city. It was very sad to see that everyone only uses it for transport and nobody stays. Definitely stay a few nights here (the best hotel is Calypso). The beaches near Agia Roumeli are stunning and almost completely free of people. Hike the path towards loutro and you will maybe see two other people. Also more stars at night than you can imagine.
The Agia Roumeli hotel is situated on the coast at the end of the world famous Samaria Gorge. It is beautifully located overlooking the bay with the restaurant terrace just above the beach itself and just a few meters away from the sea itself. Our hosts were incredibly friendly and helpful and were always unobtrusively available to help and advise us at any point. Agia Roumeli is a special place. The only way to get there is either by hiking through the Samaria Gorge (longest in Europe) or by taking a ferry from either Sfakion or Sougia. Most people arrive by hiking down the gorge, they stay for a few hours on the beach before taking the last evening ferry to Sfakion. This means that if you are there overnight you have the whole morning and evening to enjoy the tranquility of its isolated location with an afternoon in-between of people-watching. For us we stayed two nights with our adult children taking a day after the hike to enjoy relaxing on the beach and doing some snorkeling along the coast. It was the perfect way to end our stay in Crete!
We stayed two nights on a tour of the south of the Chania region. It's a very small village at the end of the gorge which welcomes walkers till their onward ferry departs. Lovely quiet place with friendly people good food in every restaurant.
Such a quiet little beach with clear water and beautiful landscape. we loved the fact that it is not accessible by car so mostly hikers will go there. There is lots of hiking and swimming to do plus the food is delicious.
The host was very nice and happy to help. No problem with check in or check out. There was fridge and kettle in the room. Also AC worked really well. The host let us check out a few hours later as we had to wait for the ferry. Also they have a nice restaurant -Tarra - by the see side with the view on the harbour where you can have a drink or somthing to eat before your ferry.
Artemis is budget accommodation but has the comfort and convenience of luxury accommodation. The studio apartments are really cute with their little kitchens and mezzanine bedrooms. I was able to self-cater and have complete independence. The location is very close to the beach and restaurants. It was easy to find as I just went to Artemis restaurant and they took me there.
A great, simply fitted out room with balcony, right behind the beach. A delicious breakfast in the hotel’s restaurant was included in the cost. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It is possible to rent a kayak from the bar on the beach, a little expensive but very much worth it to get to the beautiful, & very quiet beaches nearby (Fournoti, Domata etc)
Amazing impromptu stay at Pachnes. Michales was very accommodating, always asking if we were OK and checking we had everything we needed, he did this in a really genuine manner as well. When we checked out in the morning he gave us a lovely Greek breakfast at the brilliant price of 5 euros pp! We will definitely be staying again when we are next in agia roumeli!
Staying at Gigilos for 2 nights was really nice! All the family takes care of the clients in the hotel and the restaurant as well. So nice to enjoy such good and fresh cretan food in front of the sea, specially at night when tourists of the day are gone. We highly recommend!
The hotel was amazing. Clean, comfortable. But what made our stay fantastic was the host. Nikos! He was such a lovely person, he made us feel at home. The food in the hotel’s tavern is amazing. This is definetely the place to stay in Agia Roumeli
Cleanest room i ever see!! Great hospitality by owners and perfect location, 90m near the beach, 50m near taverns and market. Also very good view! On your left the sea. On your right the end of Samarias gorge and fortress of Agia Roumeli
The location is spectacular.......one of the best of my trip to Crete.......and you have your own beach!.......breathtaking views!.....it is a ten minute walk into the small village if you want a choice of restaurants.........
Just the place to relax after walking through the magnificent Samaria gorge. Clean and comfortable, next to the beach, with a nice restaurant on the premises where you can taste some special Cretan recipes!
Great wiew on the sea from windows, comfy beds, extremely nice and helpful staff-the owner send us back the item we left at the hotel:)!
This is a family-owned hotel. They are always very friendly and accommodating. This was our second stay and they did not disappoint!
