Beautiful historic enchanting harbour, excellent restaurants but restaurant front of house should take a more relaxed approach by giving people space to read menu. Narrow historical streets are lovely to walk around. Main harbour kept clear of boats so you could appreciate full view of architecture. Lovely restaurants in old town away from harbour.
You can travel easily by bus. Taverns are everywhere. You can walk, swimm,go hiking, watching the cats, buying leather products, jewells and eating local products .Charming place in a beautiful island.Never tired to explore and discover new things, new places
The people are lovely - not pushy nor fake but clearly proud of what they offer. The food was consistently delicious, which has never happened to me before. Tatziki rules! However, I feel like the city should do something about not being able to flush toilet paper down the toilet. The alternative is disgusting! I know what the issue is, but perhaps an island-wide push towards installing grinding toilets or handheld bidet faucets will help - or maybe changing the pipes? I don't know. I could throw TP in the trashbin as the signs say to do (I'm sorry but I just couldn't for #2!) for 5 days but know I couldn't for more than that. Similarly, it's sooooooooooooooooooo noisy. The vehicles - motorcycles, cars, trucks - seem old and are really loud and noisy at most times of the 24-hour day. I can get past the blaring music and honking for festivals or some traditional thing, but the street noise is not relaxing at all. It's a shame to not be able to enjoy the balconies nor sleep with windows open because of the noisel
Chania is an attractive town with plenty of old streets and historic building. The main harbour and the Venetian harbour are both delightful places to stroll around and to eat. The town has lovely aspects looking back to the mountains, as well as lots of places to walk if you go west.
An authentic taste of what Greece is actually like. Very friendly people, fantastic food and breath taking views. Our shuttle driver gave us a mini intro of Crete on our way to our accomodation. Which included Crete’s history and we could help but feel we had just been adopted into a beautiful Greek community, where you feel like you’ve always been apart of the beautiful town. Everywhere we ate was great- you honestly have to try really hard to find a place that didn’t serve good food- even then, it’s seems like an impossible feat for Crete 😂 Very easy to get around Chania
Liked the old town, great old buildings that have their story built into the patches and repairs. Food was good in the several restaurants and bars we tried and prices seemed good. Busses worked generally except for 1 day when several were cancelled.
We stayed for our first night in Crete. Great base to go and explore the town of Chania. The old town is only a short walk away. The free car park was a great bonus to come with your rental car. The owner was super friendly, showed us around and even brought us up to the room. The room itself was perfect and very clean. Breakfast was amazing. Would return with no hesitation. Definitely a recommendation!
Chania
We loved everything about this small hotel. The location in old town was great for walking along the harbor and visiting shops. A taxi was able to drop us very close. The hostess, Thomais, had great suggest for restaurants. She helped line up a tour of Samaria Gorge. And she prepared a huge breakfast of bread, cheese, yogurt, honey and fresh-squeezed orange juice. We would highly recommend it.
Everything looked amazing, clean with the newest electronic system. Interior design was spotless. View is clearly the best we ever had! We spent our honeymoon here and the staff was excellent. Owners also the nicest people. It was the best thing to choose Lagon as our honeymoon location. I would highly recommend to anyone who is thinking of booking for a trip while in Crete.
The location was perfect! It is in the middle of everything. If you are planning to stay just for few days all the places like the port, new town, old town etc are a very short walkable distance for the hotel. The rooms are big and very clean with balcons viewing the city center. The breakfast is very simple and tasty with the best fresh orange juice i have ever tasted.
It was a great stay. The staff were super friendly. The hotel in general is very modern. The best thing about the stay was the sea view from the room. It was great, you could even watch the sunrise and the sunset from the room. Chania town is also reachable through a short walk. The airport is a short ride away. In a nutshell, this hotel is really worth staying in :D
Very close to center of Chania. We had no issues with street parking. The bedroom is very nice, big, and comfortable. It includes a small balcony between houses which we used to hang washed clothes. Living room comfortable, with everything we needed: dishes, washing liquid, washing machine. Nice host, met us with homemade raki, which was the best we had in Crete.
+ Breakfast , a lot of variety. + The food from their restaurant is super. + Super clean rooms every day. + Close to the city center, shops, the beach and the best restaurants. + The staff is super friendly and helpful. Especially Elena, thank you! It was our first time in Crete and this hotel made it extra special for us, even we had only one week. Thank you!
This is an ideal hotel for Chania town exploration, situated very close to the Chania centre. You can rent a car and explore west Crete during the day but in the evenings you will be close to the beautiful Chania city’s attractions and restaurants/tavernas. Extremely kind and friendly staff happy to give you advice and tips for hidden Crete gems/places.
We booked 5 nights at the start of our holiday in Crete. Chania is a gem and we had a great time. Small hotel in side street leading to seafront about 50 metres away. Excellent, central location in old town. Large, clean and comfortable room with kitchenette, air con and small balcony with sea view. Excellent breakfast included at taverna right next door.
Chania
The hotel is super well located right in the center of the old town. The hotel and the room are beautifully designed and decorated. The room is amazing with a view of the ocean. Stelios is a great host and an amazing person, went more than the extra mile to help us out with our plans in Crete.
We stayed at the hotel for a short time, but we had the most positive experience. The hotel is located in the center, not far from the bus station. The hotel is clean and comfortable with very friendly, welcoming staff. And this communication was a pleasant end to our trip to Crete.
Chania
Good location in front of the sea, you can see it from the window of the room. With a 10 min walk you are into the old town, in the center of Chania. In 2 mins you are on the highway of Crete, that brings you everywhere in the island. Very friendly personnel that help you in any way.
I loved everything: if one day I come back, I'll stay here again. The best hotel I've stay in 10 nights in Crete. So quiet and comfortable, peaceful, decorated with taste! And cutting-edge air con, which is a must. The location if excellent if you want a relaxing stay.
The hotel is a modern structure with a lovely swimming pool and terrace where a super breakfast is served. The staff is super friendly (like everywhere in Crete). A free electric (!!) bus drives you to the center of town (where parking is difficult).
Hammam, pool, gym, restaurant, poolside bar all were great! Room with direct access to the main pool, and panoramic sea view. Good prices, good staff and many facilities. The chania town is about 10 minutes car ride from the hotel.
Value for money hotel.Location is second to none- bang on the port with view to die for. Attentive and polite service and breakfast which deserves a chapter of its own.Our best hotel experience in the whole of crete for sure.
The hotel is in old town which was great as a base to explore. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel has a cute style and unique boutique feel, specially the old Venetian architecture.
