Great place to stay in Syros.
Great place to stay in Syros. The architecture of the town is stunning and it has a city feel with a seaside location. The old town up in the hills is also worth a visit (5 euro taxi journey) for the gorgeous views and more classic Cycladic whitewashed buildings and streets. Confusing streets when walking around/ finding restaurants. Excellent, big Lidl on the waterfront- brilliant to be able to buy groceries at prices nearer to English prices. Did find a lovely, traditional restaurant a few streets behind the port. Port itself very busy with bars and restaurants, looks nice with the lights on the water at night but too garish for us. Buses along to beaches cheap but not very frequent. We never got the hang of the free bus to the top of the town but good in theory. We did walk up via the many steps and were glad we did. Very peaceful around the churches ,absolutely no one else there. Great views. Azolimnos very nice beach( if not windy !) . Several bars and restaurants. Bargain is to buy a beer at the mini market and sit at their outside tables to drink it. We found this set up in several places around the island, brilliant. Swimming platform in town not as good as the write ups would have you believe. No free loos/ changing places that we found and restaurant prices outrageous. But nice to cool off after walking back down the steps in that direction. Pretty views of waterfront old houses.HilaryUnited Kingdom

It has a fantastic location not too far away from the port. We booked a sea view room and we were so happy with it - the balcony offered the most fantastic views stretching out across the water. Our room was large, very clean and the bed was big and comfy. The hotel has a great area with sun loungers and small steps down to the sea, making it really easy to go swimming.
