A beautiful island with a wonderful culture. The lack of vehicles is really quirky and makes a real difference to enjoying your stay. Great walks around the island and through the towns. Good food and nice people. A wonderful place to visit.
Hydra is a must see if you want a short trip away from the capital. The main port is charming. As there is no car permitted there, the air is very clean and the village has kept is traditional aspect. The main mode of transportation for goods is by donkeys, which makes the morning routine a beautiful and chaotic show. The village is full of typical whites houses, flowers and cats. If you like hikking, there are a few easy hikes around the island. If you climb up the top of the Mount Eros, you have a gorgeous view over the whole island. The waters are turquoise and there are many beaches around. There are many restaurants serving delicious food to be found all around, although many are closed during the low season. The village was very peaceful in winter and the weather was spectacularly warm for February.
View is enchanting even in February. Wonderful island but went at the wrong time. Almost all the shops were closed. I like to shop and there were only 3 small shops with very big prices. Down side : Very expensive island. Have to be fit to go for a walk, lots of steps. Nobody available to take one round the adjoining islands. Should be a plaque at Leonard Cohen’s house. A one or 2 day visit would have been enough for me. Enjoyed the silence and the clean air.
Totally loved the island! it was so much fun, while being classy and peaceful. Coming back to a city with cars and traffic was a real shock to the system...there are NO cars in Hydra, just donkeys and walking and it is wonderful. We loved the water, the cafes, the food, the shops - everything. It was really sophisticated old-world Greece.
A beautiful island. No traffic. Quiet. We walked everywhere. We found George Jonson and Carmeine Cliff’s house and Lenard Cohen’s house. This was especially of interest to us as we had read so much about the writers and artists who had lived on Hydra. We loved our stay there and wish to return someday.
It is a beautiful and romantic spot, we wished we could've stayed a bit longer. Good atmosphere and some of the nicest people you will meet. We stayed at Angelica boutique hotel, and the caretaker was the best, most helpful woman and pointed us to some really great spots. We ate at Oraia Idra, Ostria restaurant and YaMas, which all had amazing food in different price ranges, and Karamela cafe had some really great coffee and they all had lovely staff too. Not to mention the island's population of adorable cats that wander around! We had a great and relaxing time!
Hydra
I liked everything, the best place I stayed in Greece. Dina was so kind and helpful as soon as I went inside the hotel, first owner that remember my name and I was staying for one night (felt super nice). It’s 5 minutes walking from the arrival of the ferries, you have supermarket 200mts from there and the restaurants and bars only 100mt. To the beaches takes 10/15 minutes of course depending which one you choose. Room clean and comfortable, bigger than what I expected. Again, thank you so much for everything!
Hydra
Similar to many other reviewers, we loved everything about this small, family run hotel. It was a pleasure to meet Jenni, and her son Nikolas, who were both very accommodating and made our stay most excellent. Breakfasts were huge, varied, fresh and deelish; location is perfect, a short walk to the port; room is comfortable and well appointed; communication was prompt and helpful. We would be very pleased to recommend Mistral to anyone considering a stay on the beautiful island of Hydra.
Beautiful Hotel with an accommodating staff. We were supposed to stay 2 nights, but we missed our connecting ferry, and they refunded our full amount with only 3 hours notice. The staff was so nice and helpful in every regard. The location is fantastic, right by the harbor, and a quick 5 minute walk from the ferry. Lastly, the breakfast the next morning was home made and delicious. I would recommend staying here and hope someday to come back myself.
Hydra
Maria the receptionist was amazing, superfriendly helpful and made aure all our needs where met. The garden was a beautiful and didn't feel like a hotel garden but the feel of a typical Greek home garden. Breakfast again tasty, simple and most of the products where homemade. Our room had a balcony wh8ch was fantastic with beautiful views of the sea the night sky and the city of Hydra. My son and I had a wonderful time.
We were so charmed by this lovely little hotel. It felt so authentic, the owners were absolutely amazing; so friendly and welcoming. The rooms are basic but comfortable and amazing value on Hydra. Lovely little balconies and a roof terrace to hang out on. Perfect location by the port, easy access to hiking and walks around the island. We'd stay here again in a heartbeat!
Definitely not 5 start but a nice looking 4 star hotels. Breakfast non existent, bed not comfortable. Unable to control air con, sockets didn’t work, iron did not work, shower didn’t work well and continually dropped The building has a charm, but again classic Greece hotel claiming its 5 star but clearly not. The only staff I saw was the check in and last at breakfast.
Hydra
Location was absolutely perfect! Located within a literal 2 minute walk from the ferry and town centre, 5 minutes to the closest beach, and surrounded by beautiful island architecture and vibes (which the hotel itself also definetly possesses as well). The staff were super friendly and helpful, allowing us to leave our bags after checkout until our ferry arrived
Breakfast was great! Eleni is literally great, so kind, and always at our service. Yanis as well. Location is what I like the most and the charming garden and architecture/interior (old style) of the hotel. Many thanks for all! My 6 years old kid and I enjoyed Hydra so much - beaches and town. All recommendations!

Hydra
It was an awesome hotel. Just a quick walk away from the harbor. We had backpacks and walked, but you can even roll your luggage to filenia. There is a "large" super market in hydra standards on parallel street. Quite location.
Hydra
we love everything about this place! it gave the Mamma Mia vibe! you don’t feel like sleeping at a hotel but instead a home! it have all the necessary things you’ll needed. there’s a restaurant next to you.
Hydra is beautiful and have lots of nice restaurants, rock platforms. I highly recommend. Hydra is also not built up so there aren’t a lot of hotels. I would recommend an Airbnb or villa stay.
Hydra
Proximity to Hydra harbor, clean and nicely decorated rooms, hotel seems new or newly decorated, great terrace views but above all a great host - Giannis
The hotel is lovely and the staff was wonderful! My room was very comfortable and the bed was one of the best I had in Greece. Loved Hydra!
I thought the hotel was charming and very personal
